Unscented candles - that's the way to go. 'Cause when you're without power for 4 days, and sticking around a very cold and dark house for your pooch, the 10 different scents you have going at once can be olfactory overload.
TTC #1 since June 2010

IVF #2 (EP-antagonist - Sep/Oct 2011): BFN (6R, 4M, 3F w/ ICSI, 3dt of 1 6-cell, 1 7-cell, grade 4s, no frosties)

Ditto this, I've been eating them non-stop since I carved my pumpkin Friday!
Which leads me to my other random thought (which is sort of a vent). Why do people with kids assume that holiday traditions are only for people with kids?
My friend/neighbor was shocked when I told her I was carving a pumpkin (like I've done every year of my life).
Also, when we were discussing Christmas, I said DH and I didn't do a tree last year because we were away a lot of the month and had Christmas at his sister's. She said, "Well, it's different when you have kids, you'll want to decorate, etc." I replied, "Well, we always decorate and get a tree, we just happened to not get one last year."

that is a good point -- thats happened to me before -- i tried to group the scents between rooms....it didnt work out too well.
Despite all the IF bs, I actually enjoy Halloween. I love seeing all the kids dressed up. It does not make me sad. It makes me happy to see them! It gives me hope that one day my kid(s) will be doing the same.
Also, on the same note, I do love Christmas. I just hate my MIL during Christmas. She is BSC and just a grinch. While IF has added a mixed bag of emotions, at least I can deal with those. My MIL-not so much. I enjoy decorating, getting a live Christmas tree. I LOVE making stuff for the holidays and knowing I put my heart into it, makes IF just a little less painful.
Also, I get let loose on 12/31 and drink to my hearts content (which is usually 2-3 drinks anyways).

I've been without power since 8:30ish on Saturday night and it's not scheduled to be back on until Friday morning.
Fortunately, we have friends that are letting us stay with them until the power comes back, but I really just want to be back in my own house!
