Heartburn

Hi is anyone else dealing with heartburn? If so what have you been doing so you dont get it? I get this like burning feeling from my chest all the way to my throat, and it seems like it happeneds after every time I eat or drink? Its like acid or something. I am not really sure but it is really starting to get annoying. If anyone one has any suggestion I would love to know! Thanks and congradulations to everyone on there pregnancy!

Re: Heartburn

  • I get heartburn terribly.  I take tums and pepcid, both of which have been approved by my OB.  Good luck, hope you find some relief!

  • I use tums for my heartburn and drink Milk.  I know they say that water is better but when I have heartburn I find the only thing that really helps is milk

  • Pre-pregnancy I had THE WORST heartburn all the time, after every meal. I figured out that if I drank anything while I ate, that's what was creating my heartburn and several doctors have told me this is why I had such bad heartburn. Try eating and then drinking a few minutes after you take your last bite. If that doesn't work, Tums and Zantac are the only things I take to make it go away.

  • I can drink a glass of water and get heart burn from it! My dr approved me taking zantac and it has helped tremendously

  • Tums and pepsid are the only relief I get. Dr approved both

To the girls that say drinking milk helps- does your heartburn return a few hours later? I had mentioned to my dr that milk worked for a few hours and he told me that milk will actually make it worse. Something about how your body breaks down the milk and digests it actually flares up heartburn so you may get relief for a short time but the milk you drank actually brought it back a few hours later. I quit using milk for heartburn relief and stick with the pepsid and tums and I haven't had this problem again.

  • First tri, I had awful awful heartburn but it went away when I stopped drinking orange juice and soda.  Before I was pregnant, Zantac was the only thing that worked for me when I had a bout of acid reflux.

  • Since my pregnancy has begun, malox has been my best friend. It's approved by my OB and is safe to take. I suffer through any heartburn I have throughout the day and only take my Malox advance strength before bed so I can sleep. Hope something works for you!

  • Mine has been HORRIBLE.  I was taking prescription Pepcid and about a million TUMS a day.  The doctor just put me on Nexium 40mg once a day instead and it is like a miracle pill.  I can truly eat anything again, and I feel 100%.  Doctor said this drug is fine.

I do the same exact thing. I live on tums and all sip on milk too.

  • I drink milk and a plain ol' piece of bread, not toasted or anything. It really works for me and maybe for you!
