Trouble TTC

HSG today - anyone else?

I had an HSG this morning - anyone else go through it today also? It definitely wasn't as bad as I originally expected - a little uncomfortable, yes.....especially since the doctor kept injecting the dye because it wasn't pooling where my right ovary was. Left fallopian tube pooled immediately into the ovary area, but right took a little longer. Radiologist said eventually it made its way through, but there could have been a small kink or blockage there that's now (hopefully) gone! Anyway, I'm still hoping for the best but expecting the worst (IF is such a ***) but I'm just really relieved it's over. Anyone else get an HSG today and want to share? I have my CD10 and U/S on Friday and then I'm on to vacation and BD'ing for 5 days!

  • I had mine this morning and it was not as bad as I had expected.  I had light cramping during and a little cramping since, but it was fine.  My left side was completely clear, but the RE was unable to see the right side, he said he was not too concerned and I would get more detailed information later.

I was just so relieved that it was over too.  Glad yours went okay!

  • I just had mine done last friday - It was actually really painful for me, but the dr had to use a wire to try to open my left tube (without success).  Glad yours went well and your dr seems positive.  I see my dr again on Thursday for a cd12 u/s and next steps.

    Good luck!!

  • I had mine today also - didn't go too well; they weren't able to get the catheter into my cervix. I'm pretty nervous about what that means exactly. Fingers and toes crossed that yours helped clear the way for some success and a BFP!!

  • Thanks ladies! My advice for you all going is to relax as much as possible, the more tense you are (easy to say for me, now that it's over, i know....) i think the worse it is. take the 800mg of ibuprofen and bring someone with you, if you can. it takes your mind off of it afterwards. my DH and i went to grab a coffee and it really just felt like PMS cramps afterwards. i will say that with that tiny blockage on my right side i think it created more pain since they kept injecting with dye, but as quickly as it comes it goes. i'm happy to hear others haven't had horrible experiences either...makes it easier to stand knowing that it can clear everything out and help us on our way to BFP.

  • I had mine about a month ago but it wasn't nearly as bad and I was expecting. I did have one blocked tube but the dr. thought it was just spazzing because the dye is a foreign object. But the cramps were no worse than my period. I have my u/s coming up in 2 days which I'm terrified about but hoping it will be as easy as the HSG. Best of luck to all ladies out there having the procedures done!
