Could this a growth spurt...or something else?

I noticed a couple posts about LOs sleep being restless. But I have a couple other concerns with that. DS is actually waking up frequently, I mean every hour, every 40 minutes even! He's not behaved this way since he was a NB or hit the 6 weeks spurt (we didn't even noticed a 3 months spurt). But it's not just that, he woke up the last couple nights famished! As soon as i would pick him up he would start rooting, and would cry bloody murder until I fed him, he would eat for about a solid 10 to 15 minutes. As soon as he looked sleepy enough I would place him back in bed, only to stir, grunt and wake right up! He would not go to sleep unless I rocked him or soothed him any other way (I'm telling you, he turned into a NB again!)

Here are my concerns: could it be just a growth spurt or could he be needing more food, should we start with cereals in a bottle maybe? (we were planning on BLW at 6 months). But I've noticed during the day he is way too distracted and won't eat normally, so he eats more frquently during the day as well. The past week he got over a cold and I was bringing him in bed with me for long periods of times. Last night I gave up and brought him in bed at around 3 am. He laid there awake and happy to be next to me, so I'm wondering, did I create a monster? Will he want to sleep with me all the time? Although I'm not opposed to bed sharing since I more in the AP camp, I do feel in my case it's not all that safe because I get very cold and I'm used to putting the sheets over my head and I'm afraid I'll cover him too.

Your thoughts? Sorry this got long! TIA

ETA: I have also noticed his belly rumbling a lot at night and him acting like it's a belly ache. Like this is also what's not letting him sleep. It's just a hunch that his belly is bothering him kwim?

  • have you tried gas drops?

my daughter has been doing this the last couple of nights.  it has been killer. we never experienced the 4 month wakeful like other people did and she never has been one to party in the middle of the night. but the last TWO nights she has been up for over an hour each time.  her belly has been rumbly and i tried gas drops last night.. she eventually tired out and fell asleep. i can't decide if it is teeth, growth spurt or about to do something new.

     babies need manuals.

This was us too! Last night I used the drops and I also massage his belly and did the leg crunch thing and I did get some gas out of him but it didn't seem to help that much, he was was still restless and belly still rumbly. Poor babies!
