Gentian violet stain removal or prevention

I posted this over on the BFing board, but figured I'd post here to just in case someone could help...So, I have a yeast infection and my LC recommended using gentian violet.  My first application was a horrible failure... purple EVERYWHERE!  My poor baby is all purple too.  What is the best way to get some of it off (or all of it off), safely?  Also, how can I prevent such a mess the next go around?  I have to reapply and use this stuff for the next 3 days or so...TIA!

Re: Gentian violet stain removal or prevention

  • Ive read to put vaseline on their lips to keep the stain off their faces, but other than that...I think its one of those things that you just deal with until you are finished treating it. (If someone else knows otherwise, please correct me, that stuff is seriously purple!!)

  • Can you call your doctor and get an rx for diflucan?

  • I used it with my DD who is 6 now.  We just lived with the stains but maybe if you applied Lanolin cream on you and baby's face it would help.
