Ok, I've been lurking for a while, which probably means I should introduce myself at some point. But currently, I'm upset and just needed to talk for a minute.
I just got the news that my grandfather on my mom's side has stomach cancer. He's fought a couple battles with cancer before, but he's 88 and this probably means that one of the previous cancers has spread to his lymph nodes. He and my grandmother have always been healthy and strong willed, it's just lately where he keeps getting hit. He had heart surgery only a month ago. I know this is one of those "everyone has their time" things, it's just rough. I lived with them for a couple summers while I was working far from home, so I got decently close to them. I always thought that of course they'd get to meet DH and I's first kid. Definitely doesn't mean he won't. You just really want to believe that your family is invincible
Should have results back today or tomorrow saying how treatable it is. Fingers crossed.
Re: NBR - Disturbing News
I just talked to my mom, yeah snoangel, she said the same thing. They're biopsying the lymph nodes and such to see if it spread from the original site, since if it did, they call it that type of cancer and treat it there too. Seems a little suspect that there would be two unrelated cancers (aside from skin cancer boughts).
Apparently, the doctor is optimistic about treatment, but it's more of a buying time sort of thing. Mom threw out the number 6 months.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your kind thoughts.
