Enjoying maternity leave-- despite being a bit bored :)

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to share some good news. DD#2 arrived Oct 3, 3 days ahead of my planned C section and she'll be 1 month come Friday. Second time around is definitely much easier (less pain, emotional, not feeling as helpless). In fact, I'm quite surprised at how well the nursing is going, despite having engorgement and overproduction issues those first few days.

DD#2 is great baby and DD#1 a wonderful big sister! I'm certainly enjoying the time off as I was really super busy before she came, but I must admit, I'm kinda bored. My house is clean, the dishes and laundry done and there is only so much ohhing and ahhing I can do over my new born. The explosive pooping sessions have kept things entertaining though :) I'm even a little sick of TV. Thankfully I have a few lunch and play dates scheduled to break the day up otherwise I fear I may go insane being at home 24/7!

  • Congrats! Is your older DD in daycare? I'm only sending our DS 1 day a week and I'm already thinking I'll be so busy I won't have time to do much cleaning/cooking with a newborn and a toddler. Glad to hear you are enjoying it and getting in some relaxation. Being bored isn't the worst thing in the world, soon you'll be back to the daily grind!

  • Today is my last day of leave...I was pulled out early at 32 weeks due to issues with back pain, etc. Darn breech baby! I could barely move!

I have been BORED. 8 weeks off pre-baby was torture. Post birth wasnt too bad. Except, Lifetime started Grey's Anatomy from the start of season 1 again...So, I have watched it almost twice throughall seasons now... hee hee hee!

  • Wow! Lucky you! Although it's been easier for me with DC #2, I still have tons to do! If I can get DS to take solid naps I could probably catch up. But until then, no dice. Im not sure of your cooking/dinner arrangements, but why don't you take your free time and make some freezer dinners for when you return to work? You could do some big batches of soups and casseroles.
