Baby Clothes Question - sizing

if any of you have experience with Old Navy clothing, I'd love to know if their sizes are pretty true to weight/age. I have some things that might be out of season for this baby, but not sure. Can I expect a 6-12 month outfit to fit somewhere between 9-12 months? or will it fit more around 6-7 months?

I know some clothing companies run small and others are more true to size (at least according to some of my friends). I just think 6-12 is a large age range to consider when buying clothes. Theoretically, it could encompass at least 2-3 seasons, so I'm curious. If anyone with an older baby has experience with this size (especially with Old Navy clothes) and can give me an estimate or average of how it fits, that would be great!

Thanks ladies!

  • To me Old Navy 3-6 month is just a little smaller then Carters 3-6 month but in general it is true to size.  My DD is 7 months and the Old Navy 3-6 is getting too small but the 6-12 month is still too big.  My DD is a shortie though so I have had to hem most of her pants.  So for my DD ON 6-12 will probably fit good more around 8-9 months.

  • i think theyre pretty close to true.  its so hard to tell sometimes - but basically ben is starting to get out of the 6-12 now and into 12-18 (at least in onsies/shirts, he has a buddha belly) and some of the 6-12 pants are too short when hes sitting.  i ve bought ahead some 18-24 and a couple 24 mos for next spring/ summer.  i would say (for us anyway) 6-12 fit more in the mid months of the range (7-hopefully at least 10).  hth!
  • I think they might run a little on the smaller side.  My son is pretty skinny and Old Navy clothes fit him really well.
