I got a collection Letter today.... kidding me??!

I have NEVER paid a bill late, gotten collection letter etc. and there was one in my mailbox this morning from my RE office...

I got a bill following my initial visit maybe 2 months ago. I called to pay it, she said dis-regard, I will re-bill it. Okay...and now a collection letter!!! Plus I called them last week and she said my account balance was $0. Soo irritated. Called biller and got "it was an error...teehehheee"...

    So sorry, something very similar happened to me recently and it's freakin' annoying!  I'm also one of those people that NEVER pay bills late, so I hear you girl!

    TTC #1 Since 4/2010, Cycle 30
    Positive for HLA-B27, I'm a mutant :p
    Testing - Me ok, gluten issue? DH - borderline count, low motility
    4/28/11 IUI#1 = BFP!(5/25), EDD 2/2/12 - m/c 5w3d
    7/3, 7/31, 9/25 - IUI#2-4=BFN
    IVF#1 - 1 blast = BFP!! (12/30), EDD 9/9/12, confirmed c/p 4w2d
    FET#1 3/2/12 - 2 blasts =BFP!! EDD 11/18/12, us#1 = twins! Confirmed m/c 5w6d
    4/20-surprise BFP and another c/p 4w2d
    FET#2 7/16/12 - 2 blasts = BFN
    FET#3 8/20/12 - 1 blast - BFP!! Beta #1-2=177, 354
    1st u/s 5w6d, one beautiful little HB :), 2nd u/s 146bpm
    baby girl born 5/10/13

    TTC#2 since 12/17/2014, Cycle 8
    Repeat Testing...FSH=12, AMH=3.8, AFC=28. 
    IUI#5 5/10/15- c/p?
    IVF#2 8/19/15 - cancelled due to cysts
    IVF#2 take two 10/2015 - 5 blasts frozen
    FET#4 12/11/2015 - BFN - 4 blasts remaining
    FET#5 2/18/16 - BFP!!!  Beta1-3, 126, 250, 745!!

    So, be really careful with this and make sure that it is removed properly from your credit report. If it truly went to a collection agency, it will show up as a collection account on your report, and will have a drastic negative effect on your score.

    I went to collection for a $3.50 library fine in 2002.  I had moved and didn't get the notice that the fines were due. I went to buy a car, and found my credit score to be in the 650's. Got a shi**y interest rate on the car. That $3.50 turned into almost $50 with fines; I paid the balance; however, it remained on my report for years. When it finally dropped off, my score soared to almost 800.

    If the letter is truly from a collection agency, and not just a warning from the office that it will go into collection, take steps to grieve this on your report.

    The letter was from a collection agency. When I called them they said it was a "pre-collection" letter and hadnt been reported to my credit score yet. The billing lady said she sent an email to them to have them remove it, but you can bet your a$$ I will be calling and asking about it later this week.

    I just got one a couple of weeks ago.  We always pay our bills on time.  It was for PT services, in 2008.  Every visit I asked if we had a balance, always was told it was $0.  We never received a bill.  Never got a call.  They said it was not their responsibility to bill, WTF.  I've since paid my bill and filed complaints.  I was not happy. 

    TTC started Oct '10
    Me: AMA w/RSD, atypical PCOS w/IR, LPD and High Prolactin. Controlled HP post-loss.
    DH: Low-T and borderline morph
    18 cycles, 3 medicated w/RE to get to a BFP!
    EDD 9/7/12, Saw HB @7w3d,missed m/c 1/30 @8w3d, d&c 2/8
    11 AL cycles, 9 medicated/IUI cycles. All BFFN!
    Moving forward with IVF
    BFP#2 our little cycle break surprise on AL cycle 12! EDD 10/27/13
    Beta #1: 41 Beta #2: 398; perfect u/s 3/11 hb @133bpm
    u/s 3/25 one perfect hb @183 bpm, adjusted EDD 10/23/13
    MaterniT21 and carrier screens normal. It's a girl!!!

    My dentist did that to me this summer.  It totally freaked me out too!  They said that when switching collections agencies, every single person who had a pending insurance claim got sent to collections.  Ridiculous!!  They did send an official letter specifying that it was not going to be reported or go on our credit report.  You are probably should get some written proof that everything is ok.  

    I loved the evil laugh you added at the end... perfect.
