Gentian violet stain removal or prevention

I posted this over on the BFing board, but figured I'd post here to just in case someone could help...So, I have a yeast infection and my LC recommended using gentian violet.  My first application was a horrible failure... purple EVERYWHERE!  My poor baby is all purple too.  What is the best way to get some of it off (or all of it off), safely?  Also, how can I prevent such a mess the next go around?  I have to reapply and use this stuff for the next 3 days or so...TIA!

  • From my experience it doesn't come out...  You would think your LC would have forewarned you about how badly it stains...

  • Yeah, she totally downplayed it and said "a little stain". Ugh...

  • I use this or a variation of this at work dealing with fingerprints and my experience is that it comes off of skin with bleach and water but getting it off of things and out of cloth is pretty impossible. They also don't tell you to watch out if it gets on your skin where you have a cut or something it can make a "tattoo" when the cut heals.....
