Mason is still just so inconsistent in everything - his eating, sleeping, etc. If we are out and about and he's in his carseat, he'll sleep for a few 3 hour stretches. If we're just hanging at home, he'll nap for an hour or two in his swing a few times a day. I have no idea if he's sleeping too much, or not enough. And I have no idea how to get him on a schedule. If your DC is around this age, what is his typical day like?
Re: How old does your 7-8 DC sleep?
That title should be:
?
How long does your 7-8 week old DC sleep
?
Can you tell that I"M not sleeping much at all????
My DD is almost 3 months old and can still be inconsistant!! We definitely have a bedtime routine that we stick to strictly. Also a night feeding routine. She has the night feeding routine down pat (eat then back to sleep, not play time). The initial bedtime routine works wonders one night and then still a struggle others.
The routine is basucally bath, bottle, bed. On non-bath nights i put on the lotion thats the same scent as her bath soap on her, then bottle, bed. We use the baby crack machine too on the ocean sounds during the bottle right next to her bed, with dim lights, no talking or playing.
Her naps are all over the place and not on schedule but I do not want to make one for her yet. Our days can vary so much from hanging at home or running errands. She chooses to either nap alot or nap very little. She can nap all day and still go down great at night or be up most of the day and struggle going down at night and vice versa. So I really dont think it makes a difference.
I am not sure if I helped you much. I stressed about her naps for awhile thinking it made a difference and then realized it was her reflux more than her napping that was causing her to be cranky. Once she got on some new meds she was great!!
she sttn now, 7 hours at least and then 4 more hours.?if we're out dd could sleep 3+ hours too and at home it's cat naps. She does sleep for at least 2 hours somewhere midday.?
andrew is very much like mason - will sleep for up to 3 hours if we are out and about and he is in his car seat. when we are at home, he will take smaller naps - sometimes up to an hour or so. he will be up for a few hours in between sometimes, tho sometimes shorter.
glad to hear im not alone!
Mario was sleeping about 4 hours tops at that point, but he did not really solidify a schedule until about 3 months or so. It just varies so much. And I had to chuckle at your title--my thesis was on sleep deprivation and its effects on family functioning. I'm sorry you are probably so beat.
BTW-your son is adorable. Even though I know that awake all the time thing is not! Hang in, much love, Jill
Anderson likes to keep us guessing. Some nights he sleeps 6 hours, then up to feed, then sleeps another 3-4. Other nights we wake every 3 hours. Naps are all over the place too. Sometimes he'll sleep most the day (today) and just wake to feed. Other days he's up all day. Sometimes he conks out in the carseat and sleeps a solid 3 hours.
::shrug:: Good thing I'm a SAHM and can just let him schedule himself as he pleases and nap when he naps!

Avery has her night routine down pretty well. Bath, bottle, book, bed starting at about 6:30. Up around 3am to be fed, then right back to sleep until about 6am. Sometimes if I'm lucky she'll go back to sleep after that feeding too. Today we slept in until 9am -- it was great!
Days are much more unpredictable, mostly because we don't do the same thing every day. Today we stayed home all day and she took little 1-hour naps between feedings. She'd eat, play, sleep, repeat. If we are out and about she might sleep more. Or she might sleep less. She keeps us guessing too.?
There is no such thing as sleeping too much. I worried about that some too, Ethan is a big sleeper. He didn't start getting on any sort of predictable until maybe 9-10 weeks. Before that he was sleeping very similarly to what Mason is doing.

just when we thought we had DS's "schedule" figured out ~ he changed it up on us!
hang in there. his sleep/wake patterns will change many, many times! you just get to roll with it!
