Anyone told they are dilated?

Had our 34 weeks appt friday and my OB told me at my next appt (36) they will check to see if I have dilated any and test me for Strep B and all that jazz. Over the weekend I have been having RLP times 5 down below, or what I believe is still RLP. Now everytime I walk, try to get out of bed, sit to go to the bathroom- I am non-stop sore.

Has anyone been told they are dilated any yet, and if so are you experiencing any RLP-like pain in that region?

Re: Anyone told they are dilated?

  • With DD3, I was a 3 from 32 weeks on.  DD1 I was a 4 at 35 weeks but not in actual labor.

The soreness and RLP is common at this point and tends to get worse right through to the end.  Moving is painful at this point for me :)

  • At my 32 week visit my doc checked because he was concerned about something and I was dilated to 1.5. I have a appointment today and hope he thinks things are good so I dont get checked again. Terrified of bad news. But it feels like I keep getting stabbed in the groin from the inside out and my right ovary is on fire now and then. Not sure what RLP is supposed to feel like but I know some of the bits and pieces are less than happy lol

  • I haven't been told that I would be checked for dilation, but I have my 34 week appointment this Friday.  I'll probably ask about it then (and when do you start having internal checks, or is that the same thing?).

I have been having what I hope is RLP still.  I was actually going to post and ask if it's normal to still have it.  Mine can get quite painful and last for a while.  I notice it happens when I've been sitting for a little bit...sometimes getting up and walking around helps, but sometimes it doesn't.

Yeah I asked at our 32 week and the doc say that they wouldnt check at all unless I complained about something. But Friday the other doc told me at my next visit they will test me for strep B and just check to see if I am dilated while they are down there anyway. Yeah mine feels like more intense RLP and I dont notice it when I am sitting still, but walking...oh yeah!

  • Yes. I went into the hospital Saturday night. They had to stop contractions and I was 2cm dialated.

  • I'm having the same pains.  Sometimes they stop me in my track they're so painful!  I will be checked for dilation at my appointment next Monday.

  • I haven't been checked yet (that's actually on my list of things to ask about at my 35 week appt tomorrow), but I've been having more pains down there too.  My vag is basically sore all the time and sometimes I get shooting pains.  It's fun.

  • I've had the pains for what seems like forever now.  They started in the 2nd tri.  This last week though they have been worse.  I feel more pressure right on my (ok I know this might be gross) actual vagina hole lol  I've been getting lightening crotch, the lower part of my uterus just feels heavier when I walk, and my hips continue to be really sore (even goes down to my legs).  I'll probably bring this up at my next appointment.  But the rule of thumb for my OB office is to do the strep B test and check for dilation at 37 weeks.
  • My doctor checked me at my 32 week appt since i mentioned I was having some period-like cramps. Turned out i was dilated 2cm and 80% effaced. I was sent to L&D with contractions 4-5 min apart and put on a boatload of meds and steroid shots. I've been on bedrest since, and will be until this thurs (36 weeks). At my last appt (fri) i was still 2cm but 100% effaced, and they did the strep b test.

  • I started having RLP a several weeks ago and the past couple of days I feel like the baby is a lot lower. I have not had any internal checks yet. My next appt is on Wed.

This for me too.  I even woke up this morning with sharp pains in my lower abdomen but it has slowly gone away as i've moved around and stretched.  My OB will be doing the Strep B test next Mon at my 36 week appt and check for any dilation.

At my last appointment I was a fingertip dilated, I am having shooting pains in my pelvic region and a ton of pressure. I am totally with ya, and I really hate not knowing how much pain is too much.

  • I haven't had an internal exam yet. My next appt will be at 35w4d and I'll get my Group B Strep test but I don't know if I'll get an internal then or not.

  • I went today for my 34 week appt and b/c I've been having menstrual like cramps (although not timeable) she checked me....cervix is closed and thick- no progress whatsoever! Part of me is okay with that because I know it can change on a minutes notice and I'm still preterm- but the other part of me was disappointed we weren't showing any signs of progress...I'm just an anxious mommy ready to meet her baby boy! I go back in two weeks I'll be 36.5 weeks so we'll see what happens then.
