Puffy coats?

I thought I had a little longer to get M a winter coat this year, but apparently the weather has other ideas. He has some fleece jackets, but I think he needs something warmer for when it gets really cold. Last year he was still wee, so I could keep him covered in blankets in his infant carseat and he was fine.

Did you get a really warm "puffy" coat for your toddler? He definitely needs something warm for going out on the playground at daycare, etc. I know they're a no-no in the car, so how does that work? When do you put on/take off the coat?

And if you have any recs on where to find something that won't break the bank, please let me know!

    You need to get a 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 coat. They're a fleece, sometimes windbreaker, and puffy coat that can be worn together or separately.

    We always put J in the fleece when we were just taking him to daycare (basically just putting him in/out of the car) and then we'd bring the puffy coat for walks at daycare.

    Last year we got one at Old Navy for $40, this year we found one half off at Carter's for $32. I think they also have them at Target pretty cheap.

    It's funny because last year I got DD this Carters coat (or last year's version, anyway), and we liked it a lot (and it didn't cost much). There doesn't seem to be a boys version of it, strangely. They do have some two piece snow suits for boys, maybe that would work?

    We got the LOs their 3-in-1 coats from The Children's Place a few weeks ago when they were on sale. I think I paid about $30/coat. This is the one we got DS:

    We had the Children's Place 3-in-1 coat last year and got another one this year. If we were going to be in and out of the car, I kept the two coat parts separate so I could keep the fleece part on in the car and then layer the outer coat over it when we got out. If we were playing in the yard or going to the park, I zipped them together. I also got a BundleMe for our stroller because I could never keep blankets on him for walks around the neighborhood.

    We got DD's puffy coat at Costco.  It's a London Fog coat and it was $23.  They had all colors for boys and girls.  I usually just take her coat with us and have her in a fleece.  She puts the bigger coat on when we get out of the car.

    this is what i bought.  it is such a nice coat!  to be honest, I don't put him in anything heavier than a fleece (or maybe fleece with sweatshirt underneath) unless he's going to be outside for more than 5 minutes.  He gets hot easily & then get mad. 

    he wore his london fog coat yesterday on a wagon ride around the block though & seemed happy!

    I just got a 3-in-1 jacket for DS today from Target for $33. They had nicer colors than I've seen elsewhere.

    I saw these coats at Costco after I had already bought one for DD at Old Navy. They are super nice!
