Currently we have a drying rack next to our sink. When we hand wash things (pots/pans, sippy cups, etc) we just put them in there to dry. We hardly ever hand dry things.
At our new house, we'll have a huge island and our sink will be in the island. I'm debating if we should have a drying rack or not-since it's a more "open" layout (fam rm flows to kitchen flows to eat in area) I'm afraid it'll look tacky and make the kitchen look messy with it out in the open. Thoughts?
Re: Dish/House Question
You don't need to have extra drying time for bottles, sippy cups, water bottles, even if they went thru the dishwasher? Ours are still kinda wet, even with a heated dry. As far as pots and pans, I just dry those quick and just leave them on the stove to completely air dry over night and then put them away in the morning. We never had any type of drying rack until we had dd for her bottles, but now I don't know if I will get rid of it since DH's workout bottles all need extra drying time too and I use it all the time for that.
But ya, I don't think I would want it on the island. Is there a counter against the wall nearby that you could have it when you need it, and just put it away when you aren't using it?
We don't have a drying rack, because I always just dry the big stuff and put it away. I usually just have a dishtowel down to put things on in the meantime.
I LOVE this drying mat. It's a thick mat and super absorbent. They sell bathmats in the same material and I really want one!
