DH and I are 99% sure we're done after baby #2. One of us will get "fixed" afterwards. If I have a repeat c/s then it'll be me, but if I have #2 vaginally then it's a toss up (most likely he would have it done but is not thrilled about the idea).
What is your experience with either procedure? What's the recovery like for either (if you had a c/s is the recovery any worse?)? Does insurance cover any of it (I'm sure that varies with coverage)?
Re: Vasectomy vs. tubal ligation
dh had a vasectomy when I was 8 weeks pp. We figured it was the safest time since there was no way I could get pregnant since we weren't going to sleep together up until that point. Dh's vasectomy was on a tuesday and he was sore for 2 days.
We made the decision for it to be dh b/c he is older and it is easier on him that it would be on me. Our insurance covered it 100%. That is another reason we did it at that time b/c we completely met our deductible last year and it was free. If we waited until this year we would have had bills from it.
I think DH is going to get a V when the time comes to do something permanent. I don't want to go through early menopause - which is a possible side affect and my co-worker at my last job had such problems when she had it done at 30. She scared me from having it done.
Same here. I'm not sure about insurance, I'm still waiting to check my itemized bill when it comes in the mail.
