long lasting tailbone pain after delivery?

dd will be 1 on thanksgiving and we are expecting baby2 on memorial day. .. 18 mos in between. i thought that would be plenty of time to heal from my vag birth with dd but i still have really bad tailbone pain getting out of bed in the morning and sometimes getting in and out of the car.  dd was sunnyside up and i had to push for an hour before the doc was able to grab her head to turn her. she turned herself back so the doc turned her again and held her head for 20 minutes of pushing. after that she stayed face down but i had to push for another hour to get her out... stubborn girl... anywa my tailbone hurt really bad anytime i was transitioning from sitting to standing and visa versa for months and it is much better now but i cant believe i still have pain.  im nervous about having another one without having healed completely.

anyone have experience with this

suggestions are appreciated.

sorry for the formatting and lack of appropriate punctuation. my phone sucks at bumping.

Re: long lasting tailbone pain after delivery?

  • I did have prolonged tailbone pain after DD was born, but it went away by the time DD was 5 months old.  (Like you, getting up from a seated position was so painful.)

Have you seen your doctor about it?  You definitely should, if you haven't.  I talked to my OB about it, but he didn't offer much help.

I really think my chiropractor is the one who "fixed" my pain there.  Now, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen with this LO.

I hope you get some relief soon.

  • My tailbone hurt from the time DS1 was born until I had DS2. Now the pain is gone! I don't know if DS2 "popped" it back into place or what, but it is definitely better. Before I had #2,, it was still a take-my-breath-away kind of pain if I sat on a hard surface or in one position for too long. So, don't feel like all is lost! I know everyone is different, but it could be fine.

  • thanks ladies. i have been thinking about a chiropractor so i will definitely look into that more.  aaaaaannnnnd i will pray that it fixes itself with the next delivery too because that couldnt hurt. haha.

    thanks again

  • I would find a good chiropractor.

I remember mine hurt so bad after Peyton that when she was a few months old they even sent me for xrays.

I didn't have anything like that after Morgan.
