Can we talk laundry soap....again?

I grabbed Purex (clear and free) last time I got soap....and I feel like it doesn't do a good job! I have an HE front loader, it does say HE on the bottle.

I have had to treat and rewash a lot of stuff lately, mainly my shirts. I am hard on my clothes, 3 kids all day and cooking = stains. I assume it is grease, but it's not like I deep fry anything or fry much for that matter. I guess sauces would stain similar. I got my old doodle bugs apron out, so I wear that when I cook. haha

I just don't know what else to use, do the little packs of in wash booster work better at getting out stains? Do I need a different detergent? I wear a lot of older tops during the week so I don't ruin my good clothes, but I get tired of dressing frumpy all week long!

  • I'm a Tide girl, too. The price kills me, but the results are worth it. I also love Shout Advanced to treat stains. It's one of the few I found that you can put on as soon as it happens, and then wait a couple days to wash it. It has taken out just about every stain I've ever had to treat.
  • I use the all free and clear.  It does say HE on it, but we don't have one, so I'm not sure how it works.  I used to get rashes when a kid with other laundry soaps and so my mom used this and I just always continued to.  I could probably switch, but also dd has sensitive skin, so I just don't bother.
  • I also use All Free and Clear HE for my sensitive skin. For stains I use oxyclean spray mostly. I do have oxyclean powder that I could make a paste with, but don't really do that. We do have Shout as well, but I think oxyclean works better. Sometimes when I throw them in the washer I soak them at the start too.
  • Huh, I use Purex and it works just fine for us, although we don't have an HE washer.  I used to only use Tide, but I just can't stomach the cost anymore, it's so expensive.  If I'm putting in a few things that I know have stains, I will usually add Oxyclean to the load.  I love Oxyclean, it gets everything out.

  • June4 - try putting Dawn on your stains and let it sit for a little while before you wash it.  That works really well for us.
