C-Section is scheduled...

I am very touched b/c one of the possible dates she gave me was my grandmother's birthday. So I picked that day :) Also I will be having two of my OBs perform the surgery as opposed to one with a resident. I feel very blessed also b/c the OB who had me schedule it was the same OB who delivered our DS. 

But I was caught off guard to have a c/section scheduled at 18 weeks? Is this early? She said it was better to book it now so she could make sure she is the one doing it. I already got the confirmation in the mail March 9th at 9:30am... feels weird to know the date and time...

    Let me clarify - I am not delivering at 18 weeks! I was 18 weeks when they asked me to choose a day to have my c-section. I thought they'd wait until I was closer to delivery.

    I asked my OB in June when we could schedule and he said I could pick any date after 39weeks whenever we were ready. At the August appt, I requested Dec 5th and OB sent it to be scheduled. It was confirmed about 2 weeks after that.

    I scheduled mine at 22 weeks.  My ob wanted me to have my sono to make sure that the date didn't need moved at all, and I hadn't had a scan to date anything.  At this point, after 2 trips to labor and delivery for complications and starting signs of pre-term labor, I'm now not sure we'll make it until then.

    I don't think it's too early if you already know you are having the c section. they can always change things if needed. I think it's easier for scheduling purposes (like your OB said). And it seems that since you were set up early you got to pick a meaningful date and get to have your doctor. That sounds pretty awesome!

    I scheduled my second c-section at about 20 weeks so I am hoping to be able to schedule it after my next appointment since I am now 21.5 weeks.  Mine did wait until after I had my u/s to see if the date was still close.
