After reading the post about what to wear during birth/hospital stay, I was wondering about panties.
Do you plan on wearing the ones the hospital gives you or bring your own? What about after you get home, are you buying cheap underwear to wear for those first bloody weeks? What about pads, buy some or use the hopital huge ones?

I'll bring a few old pairs, but if the mesh ones are comfy, I'll stick with those.
There's nothing worse than uncomfortable undies!
I liked the mesh ones until it was time to go home - so I bought a 3 pack of some cheapies from Target in dark colors just in case, and wore the pads the hospital gave me until my bleeding lessened. I didn't gush or bleed substantially by any means. I was wearing regular pads within about 3 days if I remember correctly - and I just bought Always pads I think. Within about two weeks or so I was able to wear panti-liners with no issues although I did buy the long ones that offered more coverage without being thick like pads. I stopped bleeding by about 3 or so weeks though I think so I wore just the cheapie panties while it was the worst and then my regular panties after that.
So I would buy pads for at home - the hospital won't give you enough to last the entire time, and take a few in your hospital bag in case you don't like what the hospital provides - same with panties too. But I wouldn't take a bunch just in case you do like the hospital ones.
The mesh undies are amazing!! The nurses gave me a ton to take home, which I greatly appreciated.
I wore the hospital gowns they gave me, but I think it was the next day sometime (I honestly had almost no sense of time when I was there) I was able to wear my own clothes. It felt like heaven to wear yoga pants and a t-shirt!
Yes - I wanted bottoms on so bad! And H and I went and walked the hospital while DS was in the nursery once so I could get out of the room for a bit - was the only time I sent him to the nursery but we couldn't walk around with him so we went and got a keepsake bear from the hospital gift shop and just was great to stretch my legs a bit! Glad I had pants to wear for that lol
We had LOTS of visitors in the hospital the same day he was born (again, I think) and I hated it! I was still super loopy from all the drugs from my emergency c/s, I was trying to get the hang of breastfeeding, still wearing a gown, etc...
I don't mind close family, but DH's two BFFs will not being joining us in the hospital day 1 this time. Everyone can wait until I can wear pants, lol.
This exactly
The mesh panties at the hospital where I had Samantha were more like fishnet than mesh and they were really uncomfortable for me. My big booty was poking through the holes and I asked the nurse as soon as I was able when I could wear my own panties.
This time I'll be delivering at a hospital that's the same hospital system as the hospital where I work and I know the mesh panties we have at my hospital are a really fine mesh, so maybe my big ole' butt will be happier in those. I'm still going to bring my own panties just in case. I'll also bring my own pads even though the hospital will provide those.

I have never seen the mesh panties but have heard so many wonderful things about them here. To me though, they are like a unicorn. I'll probably wear my own due to lack of mesh panties but last time I think I maybe tossed 1 pair and the pads were fine to keep the rest clean.
One thing I will say is that if your hospital does not provide pads (mine gave me some immediately after but then it was expected I use my own) make sure you bring something more heavy duty than your run of the mill always or kotex. I plan on buying some incontinence type pads for the first 12 hours or so because normal pads intended for a period won't cut it.
