how to introduce finger paints?

Hi,

I think we're going to be snowed in tomorrow, so I'm thinking about introducing finger paints to our 2 year old twins.  I have a roll of paper from IKEA and washable paints.  Do I strap them into their booster seats and tape the paper to the table?  Just how messy is it?  Should I put a tarp on the floor? :)

I know this is a silly question, but I need to convince DH that it's possible to do this without destroying the house!

 Thanks!

DS has been finger painting since he was about 1.. we get non toxic and washable paints and sit him in his booster chair at the dining table. I help hold the paper while he goes at it and he does make a little mess but it doesn't seem to get on the carpet..mostly on him and the table haha. But it all washes off. The very first time we tried it I put a tarp down under his chair but it didn't get any paint on it so I stopped bothering with it after that. He really likes painting though..especially making messy hand-prints on the paper :-)
