I'm feeling my first cold coming on during pregnancy and I can already tell it might as well just be the flu. My body aches and is so stiff. And this is the most fatigued I've felt in a looong time, but my body won't nap! If I try to lay down to sleep, I'll just be laying there for hours wondering why I'm still awake.
For anyone who's had a cold during pregnancy, give me a heads up.... how much worse was it for you being sick while pregnant?

My cold lasted for about twice as long as it would have if my immune system was fully up and running
I may or may not be coming down with my fourth cold of the season right now. (I'm a professor and my first-years are always sick). It takes longer for the cold to pass and (for me at least) I pick up every bug I encounter.
I've taken Tylenol a few times if my throat was bad and I use vicks vapor rub (gross, but it works) if I'm too stuffy to breathe. . .also, sleep a ton, of course, and gatorade is helpful.
oj
naps
humidifier
mucinex ended up being a lifesaver. was cough so much but not producing anything. It is safe to take just not the new fancy dm one. the regular or the expectorant and cough suppressant ones are safe.
And yes, it was a little bit worse being pregnant.

I had it reallllly bad last week and I finally buckled and went to my gen dr for a script for antibiotics. I still have a lingering cough at night and I put vicks vapor rub on my feet and then socks and that solves that problem.
My dr also OK'd plain robotussin and benadryl. I used them only when it was really bad.
I hope you feel better soon
I replied before I read your quote. You put it on your feet? I may try that tonight along with putting it on my chest.
yup! bottom of your feet then thick warm socks- amazeballs.
I am on day 3 of my cold. It really sucks. I miss my dayquil/nyquil. I've been told to try a neti pot, which I did. I hated it, but other swear by it.
