Yes. DS is in the same drop-side crib we used for DD, it was a hand-me-down from my sister. I'm perfectly comfortable with it, I just check it every now and then.
Also, just FYI, it's illegal to sell one, even at garage sales. Not sure if there are any repercussions for the person buying or just the seller if caught.
I'm currently using one that was a hand me down from SIL. It's a Pali crib, no Pali cribs were ever recalled and the drop side mechanism is designed entirely differently than the ones that had issues. If it were a drop side crib that had been recalled I'd probably get the kit to make the side immobile.
My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!
Yes..we used it for Emmy and then for Ally. If we end up having another baby, we will use it on #3. I also used the drop side part and don't have issues with it, but then again, the crib is in our bedroom, maybe if we were on different floors or opposite sides of the house, I wouldn't use it.
Re: drop side crib question
Yes, Lila had a drop side crib I purchased used from another nestie. Even with the recall we continued to use it, but never dropped the side...
I would totally do it again and passed the crib along to someone else, but shared the info on it...

Nope, my personal preference, I wouldn't use one.

yes, we are currently using the same drop side crib for dd2 that dd1 used, though we never dropped the side for dd1.
when we put it together for dd2, we added the kit to immobilize the drop side.
ours is a hand me down pali, that i'm comfortable with, because of the drop side mechanism.
don't most manufacturers have kits to fix the problem if they were recalled?
Have you seen my monkey?
