...how do you plan to keep LO warm? It is my understanding that the seat isn't safe if LO is wearing a coat or snowsuit. But what about when it is January, and the high for the day is 0? A blanket isn't going to cut it.
We just discussed this in baby group. There are sacks you can buy that fit inside the carset and zip around the little one like a sleeping bag when they are buckled in. There is one made from Jolly Jumper that conforms to the safetly regulations (in canada) that is safe to use. One of the other moms at my group had one, and it looked so cozy. I am going to find one for our baby. I think they are called cuddle bags.
I put her in fleece pants and a fleece light jacket (layers) and a hat, then put a blanket on in the car and crank the heat. Realistically, she's only outside for a minute tops.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."

I found the BundleMe which looks pretty cozy. I'm disappointed that they don't show how to use it on the website, but it might do the trick.
BTW, you're not meant to use these. It's not safe to have anything between baby and car seat. We used them in the stroller, but not in the carseat.

I also thought this was the same concept of a snowsuit and therefore unsafe. Right now I use a small fleece jacket and put a heavy fleece blanket over her head to walk from the car inside. And leave the blanket folded on her lap in the car.
I plan on getting one of these which I assume will be about the thickness of her fleece jacket and OK to use. If I have to loosen her straps at all to get her in, we won't use it.
We actually took DD's heavy jacket off when we strapped her in. Not ideal, but definitely safer. I usually put her in a thinner jacket, though, and then just layered her as needed if we were going to be outside.

Re: If you use a convertible carseat and live in a cold climate...
Ha! I swear I didn't see the PP about the same product. Looks like you might be able to get a review of the BundleMe!

Ditto. We had a convo about this on my local recently. Good details and visuals per why the BM isn't as awesome as it sounds. https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/59275474.aspx
