TTC After a Loss

Embarassing Q

OK I figured if there was anywhere I could ask this it's here. I wish I would have asked the NP when she called me yesterday and now it's the weekend and I forgot. ha.

I had a natural m/c, fairly early loss. The bleeding has pretty much stopped. Does anyone know how long you're supposed to wait until you have sex? My husband looked at me sideways last night and I kinda glared at him, but in the case I'm in the mood and feel OK before Monday when I can call the Dr... any thoughts/past experiences? Wondering if I'm supposed to be on pelvic rest.

The NP did say we have the clear to try again right away.... not sure if that is a factor.

Thanks all!

Re: Embarassing Q

  • Some people say to wait 2 weeks just to make sure your body is healing properly.  However, I would say that if you feel OK physically and emotionally and are in the mood, go for it.  Personally, I didn't feel like it for about 2-3 weeks after my first loss, and we were on pelvic rest for 6 weeks after my ectopic.  HTH!

  • After I passed the sac, my RE told me that we were no longer on any restrictions.  I think if you are feeling ok then go for it!

  • I had an early mc as well (6w0d) and we were told to wait 1-2 weeks. I had very little bleeding and didn't pass a lot of tissue so my RE said there were no other factors than when we were emotionally ready. So sorry for your loss!

  • I was told 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped to minimize the risk of infection.

  • I was told 2 weeks if you've stopped bleeding by then. If not when your done bleeding. I think a big part of it is when you're emotionally ready...which is different for everyone. Good Luck!

This exactly, I had a D&C but I am sure the risk for infection could still be there. Only your doctor would know for sure.
  • I didn't ask my doctor, I just went by the general rule of 2 weeks. Plus, I can't say I was in the mood to do it any earlier than that anyway.

  • I had a D&C and was told one week.  We have been "on restriction" for quite a while before we found out about the loss as well.

The one week is up on Thursday and we have guests coming for the weekend, so I'm hoping I feel like it on Thursday.  Hmmmm.....Maybe a few glasses of wine will do the trick :)

lol!!!! I know what you mean, many glasses of wine will definitely be needed before anything goes on in this house.
