Downtown tonight, please help

I'll spare you the background, but we've had plans to go to a party at Lucky Lounge tonight (for quite some time) but DH just now decided to look up the info and sees that it's downtown. According to him, it's a "crazy Mardi Gras-like madhouse, people everywhere, insane crowds, streets closed, blah, blah, blah". He says we have to "have a plan, know exactly where we are parking and where we are going or we'll never get there".

I've ever been DT (in Austin, but I have in other larger cities that I was more familiar with) on Halloween weekend, and he has me all stressed out because I don't have a clue and he doesn't want to go without a specific plan. If he had told me it was such a huge issue prior to, say, 7pm, I would have tried to find information earlier this week. So, any 11th hour pointers? Or suggestions on other superhero/comic book themed parties tonight that are NOT downtown? Angry

If this year is like past years when Halloween has fallen on a weeknight, Sixth Street will only be blocked off/shut down to pedestrians on the actual night (10/31). Not sure what time your party starts, but downtown will be much less crowded prior to the end of the UT game. Granted, it's been a few years since I was downtown on a Friday or saturday Halloween, but even then it wasn't anywhere close to as crazy as Mardi Gras. HTH.

Thank you, that's very helpful! Party started at 7, so we were late to begin with. I hate doing things when I have no clue what is going on so it becomes worse in my mind than in reality.

I know this is late and I hope you had fun but there is a parking lot right across the street from lucky that charges $7 probably $10 this weekend. That is where I always parked when I frequented LL in my single girly days.
