Anyone ever had amnio?

I will be having amniocentesis Weds before we deliver. I think I am more nervous about it than having my baby 4 wks early or the c-section. I don't even know why, I just haven't heard any experiences with it really, so it is really foreign to me. Any experiences out there?

    No experience but I just wanted to say, yes that is scary and I hope that your LOs lungs are nice and developed! :)

    I've had 2.  They really don't hurt - it feels a lot like any other needle stick and it's over in a minute (maybe less).

    I haven't had one, and was actually not even offered one after our 20wk a/s showed our LO had an EIF on her heart. With my age and showing the soft marker I figured that would be the next step (so we were nervous) but obviously the Dr didn't deem it necessary. I hope that all goes well with your amnio, and I understand your nerves, but I also know you are being really well monitored so try and be relaxed for the procedure :-) I will be waiting anxiously to hear how Avery's induction and birth goes...Only 4 more sleeps!

    I didn't have an amnio but did have a CVS very early on... I was so nervous and after it was over I sat up and screamed, "was that it!?" I felt the tiniest bit of pressure and some cramping during the actual collection of the placenta but that was it. My Doc said the amnio is not as bad as a CVS. I made the mistake of looking at the ultrasound and saw my very tiny 13 week old baby kicking at the needle.

    Thanks for making me feel more at ease about it guys. I think my OB just kind of worried me because she said she would immediately deliver if LO got into distress. I'm sure it will all be fine, I am just a worrier by nature.
