So, we had a Seuss themed nursery all planned out for awhile now. But then DH shows me this website and I LOVE it.
It would be just like us to have a microbiology/biology themed nursery, too. (DH is a microbiologist by schooling and I am a wildlife biologist. We're both giant nerds. In fact, we spent last night listening to a lecture about nutrient transfer in the Amazon).
Would it be really weird to decorate our nursery with plushie copepods and plasma cells?
Re: I think I'm nuts (nursery theme)
I say go for it! I mean, yes, this definitely isn't the norm, but I think it's important to do what makes you happy.
Nothing wrong with being a nerd, imo
I LOVE IT! But that'd coming from a fellow nerd! I'm an epidemiologist and we have these little plushies all over the office, representing all the various outbreaks we've worked on!
I think that is a GREAT idea. It's original, and it's very YOU GUYS, you know? Because the baby doesn't care how his/her room is decorated. It's totally for the parents, especially the mommy while she's nesting.
So I say if you love it, go for it! They sell mini microbes too... if you're very crafty I bet you could make yourself a mobile out of them.
A friend of mine, whos husband is a scientest has a bunch of those- they are so cute!!
I say go for it. It's unique and meaningful to you - what a great idea!!
4th BFP-August 2014- Due May 12, 2015
4/25/12 ~ Our angel, Persephone James, is here!
Then came a miscarriage March '11
Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12
Waiting on our second little peanut!
I would definitely do this!
We're both Early Childhood Education majors and you better believe that's seen in our DS's bedroom. He loves it. He's also really huge into science and you can find that in his books and the posters on his walls.
We have no nursery plans just yet but I'm sure it will be reflective of our field in some way, shape, or form.
