I'm thinking of getting the Ikea Kullen 5-drawer dresser for our nursery, but wanted to see if anyone had any feedback about it first. It seems to be just a bit smaller and thinner than the Malm dressers, but a lot cheaper. I guess I'm wondering why it's so cheap? If we get it, we will have MIL pick it up so we aren't planning on seeing it in person prior to purchasing if possible. Thanks!
Re: Ikea Kullen?
We have two, a 5 & 3 drawer. I neither love nor hate them, but wouldn't necessarily recommend them if price isn't a problem and you can afford one of the others.
The major thing I dislike is that the drawers are very shallow for how tall it is. It really could have six drawers. Also, the undersides of the front are not finished, so if the drawers are full clothing will sometimes catch on the unfinished MDF.
That said, for kid's clothing, I could see it working out well though because their stuff doesn't take up as much space so the shallowness is less of a problem. And now that we are using ours for random household storage, we are happy with it. The actual drawer function has held up fine over the last 4 years and a kid can't pull the drawers all the way out of the dresser [unlike some of their other styles.]
