Back from ER!

ER was this afternoon and it went really well! They got 14 eggs! We are thrilled with these results, as was the doctor. Everyone was so nice and we were so pleased with the quality of care we received. There was some confusion, as they thought this was my second ER (I think because my electronic chart shows a previous IVF cycle). I think they breezed over some of the initial prep speeches because I "knew the drill."

Unfortunately, the recovery has been pretty bad. The doctor told DH that she had a lot of trouble accessing one of my ovaries (and even showed DH an ultrasound of the problem- it was under my uterus). She said she had to really push on my abdomen and apologized to him for the amount of pain she thought I would have. She was right!! They gave me as much IV pain meds as they could and I took Vicodin the car. I almost passed out on the way out of the center, as the pain was so intense. But, I responded very well to the sedation meds. One of the nurses even asked me if I had even gone into the procedure because I was so awake!

The best part of the story has to be my first words as I woke up (I have no memory of saying this). The nurse said I told the OR team, "I need a margarita." I'm pretty sure I do!! Can't wait to hear the fert report tomorrow!!

Ruthie, I'm so excited for you! Fantastic results! Sorry they had to beat you up do much. Hopefully they gave you enough Vicodin to keep you comfortable for a while. Get some rest and know there are lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way for a great fert report!!

Wow! That sounds pretty painful- hopefully the pain will be worthwhile when you get a good report tomorrow. I'm also back from my ER today and had 8 eggs. This is my 3rd cycle and the approach this time was a bit different. Hoping that the 8 are quality! Best of luck to you!

I'm glad you had such a great number and I died laughing over the margarita. I think working with anesthesia would be hilarious.

Congrats on your 14 eggs!! Sorry the recovery has been so rough but it'll be worth it. Feel better and get some rest (and maybe a margarita) this weekend!!
