Why do we take predisone with assisted hatching?

Do any of you know why we are prescribed prednisone when assisted hatching is used?

    I'll be on prednisone even without AH. All my googling says it's to help prevent pregnancy loss.

    if my insurance doesnt approve Neupogen, then i will most likely be on prednisone also... i honestly dont know what it does... i'm just doing what my dr tells me lol

    prednisone has nothing to do with AH.  it's a steriod and it's used to aid in implantation by quieting the uterus's response to something foreign (the embryo for some). 

    if you don't know why you are taking something don't take it until your RE has explained to you why he/she thinks you need it.

    It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

    Ditto Worms.  Some ladies take Medrol, but they're basically the same thing.

    I believe steriods are routinely prescribed with AH because the manipulation to the embryo slightly increases the chance of the body having an inflammatory response to it and recognizing it as foreign - this is what I've read, at least. Some REs routinely prescribe steroids to all IVF patients to help prevent an autoimmune/inflammatory response and some only prescribe steroids to those with diagnosed autoimmune issues...there is really a whole spectrum when it comes to steriod use.
    IUIs #1-3 (1x unmedicated, 2x Clomid) = 2 BFNs, 1 m/c at 7w3d
    IUIs #4-6 (injects) = 3 BFNs
    IVF #1 = BFN
    FET #1 = BFN
    FET #2 = BFN
    IVF #2 = BFP, b/g twins lost at 20w due to partial abruption/PPROM
    IVF #3 = c/p 5w2d
    Long-shot Clomid/Prednisone cycle before next IVF = BFP, our beautiful, healthy girl born 6/26/13!

    TTC again March 2014
    FET #3 - May/June 2014     -     all embryos arrested before xfer - back to the drawing board...
    IVF #4 - July/August 2014

    I never took Prednisone with my AH.
    Anniversary
    TTC #1 since 3/10:
    DX: Me-PCOS, retroverted/ tilted ute - DH- MFI, DH-4 mo of Clomid therapy= no improvement. Weekly HCG injections.
    Me-34, DH-33
    HSG- unsuccessful, SHSG (dialated)-no blockages
    7/11-Clomid (unmonitored) BFN,
    #1 Fresh IVF 9/11: w/ ICSI & AH (only option): (1 transfered, 8BF) = BFN!!
    #2 FET: 2 transferred (2 6BF) 12/11 = BFFN!!
    Surprise + HPT on break! 2/12 Beta 1: 6 Beta 2: <5 = c/p ( RE had given me provera... So pretty sure this ruined everything)<BR> #3 Fresh IVF 3/12: w/ ICSI & AH (2 transfered 8BF & 7BF, 1 to freeze) = BFMFN!
    New RE 5/12
    6/14 Hysteroscopy
    #4 Fresh IVF 8/12: 5dt of 2 5AB blasts = BFN!... what else is new?!?
    New RE insists its a transfer issue, immunology checked & good
    #5 IVF FET 1/13 under anesthesia : Two 5 day blasts transferred
    + HPT!! Beta1: 2315 Beta2: 6442 Beta3: 31,061
    First u/s 1/30/13: Shows 1 healthy heartbeat!!

    Was he was right? I wasted 4 IVF's and the doctors were not getting the catheter in?!?

    Thanks Ladies!  It wasn't prescribed for my fresh cycle (no AH then).

    They mentioned that the reason they are prescribing it this time is due to the AH (which they do for all FETs).  I have a monitoring appt tomorrow morning so I'll make sure to ask more about it then.
