Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anybody NOT back to their pre-pregnancy size?

Just wondering where I stand with other women.  I have not weighed myself in a couple months but I think I have 8 lbs to go.  Not bad after having gained 50 lbs the entire pregnancy!!!  I still feel like everything is wider though.  Some women have told me it took them almost a year to get back to where they were.  Ladies, where are you?

Re: Anybody NOT back to their pre-pregnancy size?

  • I am 5 pounds under my pre preganacy weight, and i am still bigger then i looked before and some of my pants still don't fit... Sooo i have no clue why i still look fatter :( I also gained around 50, but 30lbs was lost the first month and a bit.

  • I'm 5 lbs less and a size smaller BUT even though I'm pretty skinny I still have a fatter mid-section.  I don't mean to be discouraging, I think it's great that you've lost so much.  I just wanted to chime in that your body may look different even when you achieve your goal.

  • I gained 85lbs and have 15 left to go....it is super frustrating!

  • I'm actually BELOW my pre-preg size and I still feel wider across the hips. Some things just don't go back to where they were. You sound like you're doing amazingly!

  • I have a muffin top that doesn't respond to anything. I've been told to just live with it until I'm done BFing. My weight is only a few pounds higher than prepreg, but that's deceiving because I've lost so much muscle mass since then.

None of my regular clothes fit the same... the tops don't come down far enough because of my boobs and my hips/butt is still a little bit wider. I think it's getting better little by little, but it's hard to see the change when it's so gradual.

  • I gained 60 lbs and have 20 left to go. I'm bfing and my appetite is insane. I lost 35 lbs the first 6 weeks and only 5 lbs since. Don't know what to do.

  • Not even close. 2-3 pant sizes larger from immediately pre-pregnancy and another size or 2 bigger than I was when I first started TTC.  It's my own fault, but it's depressing. :(

  • Nope. I'm one or two sizes up (depending on the brand).

    I started out at 170 lbs and a size 10. I'm now 170 lbs and a size 12 or size 14.

I gained 25 lbs through my pregnancy, but it was all belly. I'm now left with extra skin at my belly that will be around for awhile. Plus, my hips are wider.

I just donated what no longer fit or what didn't lay right anymore and I bought bigger sizes. I just bought some necessities (2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of dress pants for work, a bunch of shirts, new [cheap] underduds) to get me by for the time being. The dress pants are a little big already, but I haven't lost any additional weight. I guess things are just narrowing and shifting back in to place...? Who knows. I'll add in more clothes once my size is more stable.

  • I still have 18 to 20 lbs to go.  Super depressing having a gut.  As I posted the other day on another board, my MIL grabbed my gut the other day and asked if I was losing it yet. So insensitive!!! So I turned, grabbed hers, and asked if she was losing hers yet!

This fat thing is soooo depressing!  I am off to do walking lunges behind the stroller through the neighborhood!  So what if I look like a weirdo- it will be worth it.  I would take some appetite suppressants if I wasn't still BFing like a dairy cow.

  • I am 4 away from PP weight but PP size is another story.  My body is all kinds of messed up.  But I'm working hard!

  • wow, I'm not even close. I probably have about 25lbs to lose still. Breastfeeding did not do what everyone told me it was going to do. Just made me hungry and my body held on to every calorie. Once this engorgement goes down (just stopped pumping/nursing) it's back on the treadmill and calorie couting for me. I'm absolutely beside myself, and simply have NO CLOTHES! LO is almost 7 months and I'm still sporting my maternity pants for work.

    ugh.

  • Ugh...I am only about 5 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight but I feel like a big gelatinous blob. My stomach is disgusting. My clothes pretty much all fit but I don't want to wear any of my old tops b/c they're formfitting and show off my new lovely bulge. Stick out tongue I haven't been able to find any time to work out since LO was born and I used to work out every day. I miss it SO MUCH! Argh.

  • I still have about 18 lbs to go. I was between 112-115 lbs pre-pregnancy (I'm 5'1"), and at this point, I will be SO happy to be back to 120 when that happens.

Getting back into running has helped, but I haven't made it to the gym this week because it's mid-term week, and I'm non-stop grading. I've lost 10 lbs since I started back to running regularly about two months ago.

I was a size 4 petite pre-pregnancy, and I'm wearing some size 8 jeans a friend gave me. (She gave me all of her clothes that she wore for the year after having kids.) One of my co-workers said it took her a year; she's tiny-tiny (like 5'2", size 0), and she gained 60 lbs with each pregnancy and took a year to lose it all after each pregnancy. She has 3 kids.

  • I'm 10 pounds from my PP weight. We got pregnant 2 months after our wedding so I was in the best shape of my life. I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy and lost all but these 10 within the first 2 months. I can fit into my PP jeans but that creates a muffin top. I bought a pair of jeans and a pair of work pants one size up and have been living in those since then. Hoping to get back to the gym soon but I would much rather spend it with DS and DH so it's worth the extra pounds ;)

  • haha ... no.  no where near it.

Pre preg I had put on about 20 lbs from where I needed to be.  I was in a tight size 8.  Then the first 3 months of my preg I was so hungry all the time every day (no MS here) that I gained about 25 lbs - so I was up to a tight size 10 by the time I went to maternity clothes.  Over the rest of my preg I think I put on another 30 lbs or so (I have blocked the actual numbers) and am only down about 20 lbs since giving birth 8 months ago.  That's because I'm lazy and I like junk food too much.

So now I'm in a 12 :(.  But I'm actively trying to get back to a 10 (followed by going to an 8).  I'm eating less & better and exercising more.

  • As I write this i'm wearing maternity capris. HA! I gained 50 lbs during pregnancy and I was already about 15 lbs over weight, so I had 65lbs to lose. I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks then nothing. I'm working out now and have changed up my diet to healthy foods and low processed foods. I've lost about 5 lbs in 4 weeks.

I still have 25 lbs to lose.

  • I am about 15-20 lbs. under my pre-pregnancy size (i gained 50 lbs during pregnancy).  I am 1-2 pant sizes smaller but i sill have a jelly belly.

  • I'm about 15lbs from my pre-preg weight (I only gained 30lbs). I'm sure if I stopped eating like I'm still pregnant, I'd be able to lose it easily.

  • I weigh almost 20 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm still in the same size because everything is so much skinner except my tummy. It's pretty depressing to lose all that weight and not see the results.

This. Except 40 gained, 20 lost, 20 to go and none lost since like week 3 despite eating well and working out. I'm chalking it up to the nursing - some people just keep it on until they wean. I'm crossing my fingers thats me (and you!)

  • I only gained 30 lbs during pregnancy, but probably gained more before i got pregnant because i kept thinking i was pregnant and thus ate more Big Smile

I have 10 lb to go to get to prepregnancy weight, but that's taking into account i dropped 23 in the two weeks after having the baby (yes, i've gained back).  I just had a physical and they determined i have hypothyroidism.  I'm on medicine now for it (a very low dosage), but i'm keeping my fingers cross that that will help me shed the last 10 lbs.    Still breastfeeding though, so i don't want to diet, just make smarter choices in what i eat.

NO time to exercise unfortunately because of my commute.

  • I only gained 20lbs during my pregnancy, but I am still at that weight now. I lost pretty much all of it the day I gave birth, but have gained it back from not having time to work out :(

  • I'm in the same boat. I am technically within 5 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight but I am definitely FATTER in different areas than I was before! I still can't fit into most of my pre-P pants, but I can fit into basically all my tops. My hips are so wide now!! I am bummed b/c I was hoping to be back to normal by now. I gained 47 pounds.

  • I gained 30 pounds and it took me 7 months to lose it all! Sounds like you are doing fantastic.

At around 9 months, it just all seriously started falling off. I am 10 pounds under pre-preg weight right now. I am still BF though, I am unsure if that has a lot to do with it.

Things just shifted- it's not that I'm wider, per say, but my waist sits a little differently, my ribcage is bigger, and everything just...shifted...down a little.  LOL

  • :butting in:

I lost my weight with my daughter in the first 6 months.  Then it came back , went away again and now is apparently here to stay.  Moral of my post is that once its off keeping it off is HARD!  GL and I am hoping for a better outcome with #2!

  • No, and now I seem to be gaining weight! Nursing is definitely not taking it off. I gained 21 pounds during the pregnancy, but lost 2 the last few weeks.  Then I lost 11 pounds a few weeks after the delivery, but have gained back 3.  Result: 109 pre pregnancy, 120 now.  Big chest, HUGE thighs, big butt, big tummy and not fitting into pre pregnancy clothes.  Yet I worked out before and during pregnancy and looked great then.  I only get to the gym about 2 times a week and am not dieting due to the nursing.  I have the biggest appetite I've had in my whole life and my high school reunion is in 2 weeks, yikes!  (Babes is 16 weeks old.)
  • Keep up the great work! I am down 10lbs from PP - it CAN be done! I feel sexier and happier with my body than ever before!
  • Hey.  I see that this post is old, so hopefully you are not still struggling with this, but if you are I have something that may help.  I gained 70 pounds over my pregancy, my baby is now 8.5 months old and I have lost all of it plus some with the Body by Vi 90-day health challenge.  People who have tried EVERYTHING are losing with this challenge.  It's worth a look.  I was so impressed with it I decided to promote it and I can't help but share it with whoever needs it.  The great thing is it's not just for weight loss either, it is packed FULL of nutrition, so since I don't need to lose anymore weight I just drink one (you'll see what I'm talking about once you look at my website) with my meals to get extra nutrition.  Anyway, let me know if you have any questions or anything.  I'm also on facebook...Nicki Wade.  My pic is a little baby bottom with his feet tucked under him. :o)

  • I'm in the same boat as you are!! Actually, I am exactly where I was pre-preg with weight but I am NOT in the same size.  Everything is wider, flabbier, less muscle.   I'm so discouraged because I heard from so many people that weight would just "melt off" while nursing.... not true!  Actually, if I drop my calories to lose weight, my milk supply drops drastically.  As soon as the calories are back up, so is my milk supply.  I would be more than happy if I  could fit into what I considdered my "fat jeans" pre-pregnancy, but I can't even get those over my hips that are now much wider than they were before.
