Traveling for 5 days...bring pump?

We are going to Florida (a 3 hour plane ride for us) for a family wedding for five days next week. I EBF and usually only pump at work or occasionally on weekends to relieve extra milk that DD didn't finish. Do you think I should bring the pump? I know it would be nice to have in case I want to pump if she doesn't completely empty either breast (which happens esp. in the morning) but we are already bringing so much stuff and that would be yet another thing to lug around. Plus...how would I bring it? I would have to pack it in my suitcase, right? I have the PISA. Any similar experiences?

I'm only an occasional pumper; I left it at home on my 10 day trip and didn't wish for it once. I say leave it.

I'd bring it just so that I could leave her with family members here and there and not have to worry about if she needs food.

You can just bring it as a carry on - I didn't get any strange looks until I got to Germany - where they weren't quite sure what it was

- I asked them if they really wanted to know...They did and then they blushed. No biggie! You'll probably have more interest when you whip out a boob on the plane! I ended up with some old guy beside me who just could help staring...

I got an inexpensive manual pump for travel, since I'm an occasional pumper. Takes up very little room!

I'm also traveling to fl for a wedding soon. I'm a bridesmaid so I'm bringing my pump bc my husband will have lo most of the day of the wedding. I will pump the night before and nurse her in the morning and pump a couple times while with the girls getting ready and be ready to nurse again after the wedding ceremony.

If you are not EP then I would get a manual pump to throw in your suitcase.

I carried mine on, even on my hour-long, direct flight. I was too paranoid that they would lose my suitcase and I would be screwed. (I EP, so it would be really bad if I didn't have my pump.) It was a pain, but gave me peace of mind.

I agree with pps who say to take a manual pump - that is what I originally used before EPing. I used a Medela Harmony with good results.

I wouldn't take it. I rarely pump when I'm with the baby and you'll have enough stuff to travel with as is.

Only reason I would bring a pump is if you know for sure you will have a "date night" and want to leave baby with family. But, if baby is sleeping through the night or mostly through the night (meaning you get a 5-6 hour break is considered STTN for a BF baby), then still no need as you could plan your date in that break. For example, DD would "go to be at 7:30 and then sleep till 2 AM at 6 months. I could BF before bed time and still be back for middle of the night feedings.

I EP, so I don't go anywhere without it...but I agree with getting a little manual pump to bring just in case you think you will want to get away with hubby or something...since you said it's a family wedding, maybe one of the relatives would take LO for a few hours so you and hubby can enjoy the time away?
