I'm trying to do some general budgeting and after calling 3 different numbers at Overlake hospital and being transferred multiple times I still haven't gotten an answer to my question. What are the hospital costs for delivering a baby? Vaginally or through c-section? Any ballpark numbers would be appreciated!! Thanks!
Re: Cost of delivery at Overlake?
I had my DD there this year,
The hostpial total with Epidural was $9888.18 with a 2 night stay, What the insurance paid them in the end if I am reading the paperwork right was $4006.00
Then we had a charge from my Dr. and our pedi I must have not put them in the baby book so I don't know what those charges were.
Hope the helps.
YOu should talk to your insurance company... usually there's an amount you pay, and a reduced amount they pay to the hospital...
There are SOOOOO Many variables... drugs, procedures, number of days there, etc...
What is the max on your HSA? Mine at work is only $2k and I used every single penny with the birth of DD (albeit mine was at Evergreen) with a very short, no epi, uncomplicated delivery and birth. Plus my OB didn't for the entire pregnancy for anything until I delivered. You can *always* find ways to use the leftover $$.

It can vary so much but I agree with pixelvixen that you should elect the max. The birth will be one of the life events you get to adjust insurance selections for so you shouldn't be stuck.
But to answer your question, my c-section and 5 day stay was $13265 (not including my OB's charges), but the contracted rate the insurance compnay paid was $7834. My share was $5.64. The decimel is correctly placed.
The rest of the pregnancy is what was costly out of pocket.
