So frustrated! No progress at ALL!

Went in for my appt today...I am 38 weeks 5 days...not dialated, no thinning, baby hasnt dropped...NOTHING!!

Grrrrrrrrr. Yes, I know he needs to bake as long as possible, but I thought for SURE these contractions I have been feeling might be doing SOMETHING!!!

The Dr asked how far I lived from the office, then told me to walk home, lol.

He said.."well, I can promise you he will be here by Christmas"...Lord I hope so, lol.

I go back next week, joy.

Anyone else not making any progress?

I have no idea....I had my appt yesterday at 37w6d.....they said they don't do internals till 38 weeks!!! I'm like....Yeah, tomorrow I'm 38 weeks.....I will get an internal next Friday when I'm 39 weeks. THAT is what I'm frustrated about!!! I have NO IDEA what is going on in there!!!

Don't get discouraged. Some people don't make any progress until they're in labor and then they'll dilate 10 cm in 12 hours. If the internals are stressing you out, you might consider skipping them or ask your doctor to keep the progress info to himself

My OB did an internal at 35 weeks but told me nothing and at my appt 2 days ago said that it wasn't necessary to check anymore since I'm a rc/s....so I have no idea, but we're going with no progress here.

I was 2cm last week and the same this week! BOOOO but he will get here when he's ready I guess!

I don't know if there's been any progress yet because my OB doesn't see any reason to do internals until I'm in labor. On one hand it's nice because I can assume I'm progressing some due to frequent braxton hicks contractions (which my OB said sounds like it's good practice for my body) but on the other hand I really want to know!

Anyway, it doesn't mean much...even if you were making a lot of progress it's no sign of how soon you will go into labor or how quickly you will progress when you DO go into labor. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you, though I know that's more easily said than done!

I'm right there with you. My last appointment was 38w6d and I was still pretty much closed and soft. Its been the same for the past 3 weeks. Looking back I should have really declined a couple of those checks but I was too antsy to know what was going on in there. I'll be 1 day before my due date at my next appt and if I get the same thing I really think I'm gonna lose it!! I also haven't even felt a contraction!! Its very disappointing but I keep telling myself it could all change in a matter of hours so you never know!

Me too. I went yesterday. I lost my mucus plug and have started experiencing individual contractions (meaning nothing consistent, just one here or there). She did the internal and absolutely nothing. Yesterday I was convinced I was about to go into labor at any moment. Today I feel normal and think it might be weeks yet. So frustrating, but I look at it like each day is more time for me to get things ready.

They checked me yesterday and apart from the baby being engaged my body itself had done absolutely zippo. Take heart though, progress has no bearing on whether labor is anywhere close

I joked to DH, well at least one of us has their act together.

I had my 39 week appointment today and the ONLY reason why they did an internal is because i woke up with cramaping and bleeding. He told me I was only 1cm dilated, but said my cervix is favorable and expect to go into labor between now and a week. I think internal exams, fondle height measurements etc are a waste of time since they don't tell you anything about your baby's actual size or when you'll go into labor! Some people don't drop until the day before labor and it all happens at once

Don't worry, anything can happen. I was not dilated at all and had no signs of being ready at my 39 week appt with my first child. My water broke the next morning and he was born later that afternoon.

Thanks ladies! I know in thegrand sceme of things it really doesnt mean much, but I had hoped all of my discomfort was at least my body STARTING to prep itself!!

Of course, tonight I have been blessed with lots of lower tummy and back pressure and the feeling that I REALLY need to go to the bathroom....is this typical after an internal? He said I could have some spotting and cramping, but thats not what this is.

I hear ya. I've been putting my OB off for a couple of weeks and yesterday he said he really would feel better if I let him do an internal since I live so far away. I'm picking my battles, so I let him do it. Surprise, surprise, my cervix is "way posterior" and closed up tight. Thanks, buddy. I'm so glad you wasted my time. I was in a FOUL mood for the rest of the day.

I've been at 1 cm for about 3 weeks now. My due date is in 2 days. I had my membranes swept and nada! I've got another appointment on Tuesday to schedule my induction

I was really hoping to go early this time around.
