I am trying to see if I should add a third feeding to my LO's day. We started solids at 6 months, and at month 7 are generally at 2 meals per day. I am just curious, if I should add lunch at month 8. Right now, my goal is to BF for a year, so I don't want to drop a nursing session too early. He also gets puffs in there as well. My current schedule is as follows:
7:00am - Nurse; 7:45am - solids; 10:00am - Nurse; 1:00pm - Nurse; 4:00pm - Nurse; 5:30pm - solids; 7:00pm - Nurse
So, when did you start solids and what does your current feeding schedule look like? When did you start your LO on 3 meals?
Re: What is your LO's feeding schedule?
5:30AM - bottle
7:30AM - 3-4oz purees
9AMish - bottle then nap
12PM - 3-4oz purees
2PM - bottle then nap
5PMish - bottle or purees depending on his mood (if he didn't nap well he's usually too tired and cranky for purees)
7PM - bottle, bed
I had read somewhere that babies should get three meals a day when they're six months old so that's what I was shooting for. Sometimes it doesn't happen though and I'm OK with it. Once he hits a year old I'll stick to a more strict schedule of three meals a day.
Emilie gets a bottle around 8am, noon, 4pm and 8pm. Then she gets fruit and oat cereal around 9, and then veggies and rice cereal around 5 or 6 depending when her last nap is.
I used to give her 3 meals when we first started solids, and then she had a little while when she just wouldn't eat solids at all, so I knocked it back to 2 meals, and things have been going much better. I'm thinking of trying to add lunch when she turns 8 months, but am just deciding when since she usually goes down for a nap very soon after her bottle at noon.

I started LO on 3 meals of solids around 7.5 months.
0630- 8oz
0930- Solids
1130- 6oz
1330- Solids
1500- 6oz
1700- Solids
1900- 8-10oz
It's only been in the past two weeks that he's been on this schedule. He went from taking 8-10 4oz bottles a day to taking 4 bottles a day over the span of a week. His first nap is after the 1130 bottle, and his second nap is after the 1500 bottle.
This is all estimated based on a 9am wakeup, which is most usual. But it can go an hour one way or the other, and we just adjust.
9am - nurse
10:30am - solids #1 (oatmeal + fruit)
1pm - nurse
4:30pm - nurse
6:30pm - solids #2 (veggie combo)
8pm - nurse
She sometimes has some puffs as an afternoon snack around 2-3. So, we're very similar to you, except she only nurses 4x a day most days. I probably won't add a third meal until 8/9 months...I'm not in a rush, she seems perfectly happy and 90th-percentile-healthy on her sched now.
