2nd Trimester

Marginal Previa

Just got a call from my ultrasound place and was told my old blood spotting (for a day) was from Marginal Previa which I guess is because the placenta is attached to close to my cervix. She said its normal and not uncommon & not to worry, they scheduled my next ultrasound for Dec 1st to give me time to grow, anybody else have this experience?

Re: Marginal Previa

  • I had a marginal previa that caused spotting too. They put me on pelvic rest and by my next ultrasound it had completely corrected itself. The u/s tech told me that they typically correct themselves. Try not to fret!

  • I wouldn't worry about it at this point, most cases resolve on their own and don't affect delivery.  Just follow whatever instructions your doctor gives you as far as exercise and sex.  There's still plenty of time for it to move out of the way as things grow.  Hopefully it won't be anywhere near your cervix at your next u/s.

  • I was told I had this at my 17 week scan. I was put on pelvic rest until the next appointment which was at 21 weeks. Everything had corrected itself and now my placenta is way above my cervix.

  • I had this in my first pregnancy. It moved up and out of the way by the 20 week ultrasound.

  • I have that too and I've been told to stop running and no sex. I'm about 23 weeks so hopefully it will correct itself like everyone says. :o)
