You think my husband should do WHAT?!?!
So I can't seem to stay away tonight bc HEmery is so very much on my mind. It's been a crazy day on here between our worries/prayers for her and Walker and other bumper drama. That said, was hoping I could provide a bit of levity this evening. Was going to post this the other day, but re-thought the whole posting-this-type-of-story-at-work-today thing. So here's a little nugget 'o crazy for the night...
Scene - Me and stepmom sitting by pool a few weeks back chatting while dad and DH are in for a swim. Me - trying to make polite conversation, Her - Continuing to turn discussion to boobs.
Her: "I have some very valuable breastfeeding advice for you."
Me: "Great. Please share."
Her (beaming with pride): "I was able to get my milk to come in almost two months before the baby was born!"
Me: "Huh? I didn't think that was possible..."
Her: "Yes, well, I did two things. One, I started massaging my boobs each night in the shower and really rubbing up my nipple"
[cue me choking on my smoothie]
Her: "Second was that I had my husband begin nursing on me 8 weeks before giving birth. He'd suck for about a half an hour before bed each night."
[cue smoothie completely dropped and me looking around hoping someone else heard this-- all while being thankful she wasn't referring to my father]
DH and I have had some great laughs about it since then, but in the advice aftermath he won't go near my boobs at all anymore...definitely our most entertaining pregnancy conversation!

ROFL, extended nipple stimulation, wow. Was she trying to induce labor??
I can't imagine trying to get my husband to start sucking to bring in the milk! That's just crazy.

Ha! I would have loved that conversation! I have to say, her husband was either super horny or super compliant to be nursing for THIRTY MINUTES a night!
She sounds iconic!
This totally reminded me! Someone, I think it was my sister's MIL, was telling her how she would get clogged ducts a lot while BFing and they would hurt a ton so she would have her husband suck them through for her.
I'm glad you can laugh about it! I would definitely be scared the next time she offers advice!

My first thought while reading this, "IS SHE TALKING ABOUT OP'S FATHER?" But I'm glad you clarified. I would have probably just sunk in a great big hole in the ground.

Yowzas!!!! I just did not expect that post to go in that direction. It's pretty freaking disturbing, but it is the laugh we all need right now.

Wow, did they not have breast pumps back then?
Reading that I thought of clumpy sour milk from a carton and started gagging. That is so wrong.
