Receiving registry items in mail. Unknown Senders

Family and friends who live far away and can't make the baby shower have been purchasing items from our BRU registry.  We are also receiving items from our Target.com registry, but the items come with a piece of paper that says who purchased the items.

I want to send out thank you cards, but I have no idea who is sending the items from BRU! Does anyone out there know where or how I can find out?

Re: Receiving registry items in mail. Unknown Senders

  • All of the items I got in the mail had an invoice with the senders name and a message with them

  • So far my receipts from BRU have had in the message section the name of the person and a little message from them. How odd that whoever sent them didn't have them do that too? I think you may have to call around or wait until someone says something. Maybe see if your mom or the host knows who sent them. (Sometimes even with a registry, people ask for ideas.) Good luck!

  • All of mine have either had a note on the packing slip or I can tell from the address that is listed.
  • I would compile a list of people you invited but can't come and see what gifts you receive with a sender's name/address and narrow it down from there.  After you have only gifts you don't know where they came from I'd call anyone that said they were sending you something or send out a generic thank you card to each of them
  • Is it shipping directly from BRU?  if so, the invoice should have a billing name & address on it.
  • Step 1) Call BRU and see if a card message was intended to be sent. They should be able to read it to you over the phone if it was forgotten.

Step 2) If no card message was sent, ask them to contact the sender and either a) give them (BRU) permission to release the sender's info to you or b) have the sender contact you themselves.

BRU should not release any information to you, the recipient, besides the card message since it is a breech of most company's confidentiality policy to give out sender details (name, address, etc...). I used to train customer service agents (the people who handle sales and customer service calls) for multiple companies-this is what we were able to do if the sender forgot to notify the reipient who the gift was from via card message or forgot to put one in.

    Good luck!

  • If you are getting numerous things with no name/address on them, it might be because someone is doing it on purpose.  My SIL had a "secret stork" as she called them, that sent her stuff throughout her entire pregnancy and would not say who it was from.  Finally after having her baby, her SIL came forward and said it was her that had been sending all the stuff and just wanted to do something nice throughout the whole pregnancy.

If this is not the case, then I'm sure if you get the word out (to friends/family invited to baby shower) that you're receiving stuff with no name and you want to say thank you, the person will come forward. GL!

  • I wish I had some advice, but I am just chiming in to say that I received a gift off my Amazon registry yesterday with no packing slip or anything.

Thankfully, Amazon has a "Thank You List" online that I can view and it shows me who purchased what.

    Good luck!
