TTC After a Loss

Low Dose Aspirin

Ok so since the 2nd miscarriage I have been a bit neurotic, and doing lots of stupid googling.

It seems like many dr's are recommending one baby aspirin a day when TTC and throughout the first trimester to prevent miscarriages. The research seems to show an increase in benefit to those with multiple miscarriages.

As a nurse, I "know" I am supposed to talk to a Dr., blah blah blah, but I am just looking to see if any of you have done it, or considered it? What do you think?

From what I have found it doesn't seem like it can hurt, as long as you don't have any health contraindications.?

Just some random thoughts on a Friday night.....?

Re: Low Dose Aspirin

  • ?I feel the same way you do. If it can't hurt, it could only help. I started taking a chewable 81mg ASA daily. I thought my OB would be mad that I did it without her telling me to, but she was really cool with it.?

  • I literally just bought a bottle today. I have only seen benefits online from taking it.

  • LOL, I so should of known that my fellow TTCAL ladies would agree with my thinking....

I am thinking of getting a bottle at work tomorrow, I think we get it cheaper at the hospital pharmacy.

  • I decided it can't hurt so I've been taking them since i got my first period post m/c.  I won't stop until I'm out of first tri. GL!
  • i was put on it because of MTHFR and was told today that once i get my BFP i'll be on lovenox for at least the first trimester.
I guess its a preventative measure in case you have blood clotting issues which seem to be common, i would say its almost as being put on p4 for precaution or peace of mind. hey it can't hurt because it is such a low dose but just be sure to read contraindications to something you may be taking along with it or a condition you may have

  • I was on it for both rounds of my IVF - I got pregnant both times and lost both pregnancies very early.  I am actually on the other end - paranoid that the aspirin may be causing my losses - just like everything under every other rock I have looked under!!  It is supposed to increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries - and during IVF that is a good thing in egg production.  Then, the belief is that it helps thicken the lining and finally, it supposedly aids in implantation.  I am going to ask my RE about it again.
  • my dr actually has me taking 2 baby asprin while ttc and until 13 weeks and after that if I ever get there Im supposed to take one
