I LOVE our pediatrician with Loyola Primary Care in Burr Ridge. Almost everyone in the practice is certified in both general medicine and pediatrics....no worries about LO aging out of the practice and the entire family can see the same doc which is a real time saver. The Burr Ridge site also has specialists and labs on site. Its a 15 minute drive from Downers but worth it.
I don't have an OB recomendation near Downers Grove. I love my OB so much we drove to the city for both pregnancies.
Our family sees Dr. Antonio Pangan who is just wonderful. They have also seen Dr. Hedi Renner and Dr Kevin Ozark who are equally as good so if Dr Pangan is unavailable when LOs are sick I don't have to worry about who they will be seeing.
Here are a couple of other facts about the practice....
The practice has evening appointments...AWESOME for working parents and a Saturday clinic. There is also immediate care at the Burr Ridge site for Sundays, Holidays, and late evenings so your family can be seen by a Loyola doc with access to medical history, etc.
Its a busy practice so there is usually a 5-10 minute wait. Appointments first thing in the morning or after lunch always reduce this wait.
It is a teaching hospital so they do have medical students sometimes who observe appointments. In the three years that we have been going there it has never been a problem.
This practice strongly encourages vaccinations however they are open to an alternative vaccination schedule. I delayed some vaccinations and they did not have a problem.
I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I am in the process of switching from Dupage Medical Group Pediatrics (near Good Sam) to Dupage Pediatrics in Darien. We moved to Downers Grove almost a year ago, and I never developed a good rapport with any of the doctors in the practice. I have not taken either of my kids to Dupage Pediatrics yet, but I have heard and read great things.
I'm no help on the OB. I stayed with my doctor in the city and delivered at Prentice.
Not sure if you've found your OB yet but mine is in Downer's Grove at Good Samaratin Hospital. He just delivered my sister's baby 3 weeks ago, will deliver mine in January and actually delivered me and my sisters (twins) and 2 brothers. He's extremely personable and his office staff is wonderful. He's also very laid back, which I find very helpful. His name is Dr. Vipal Arora and I would recommend him to anyone. Hope this helps!
OB: Dr. Shamim Patel - delivers at Bolingbrook and Hinsdale Hospitals. I have been going to her for at least 6 years and she delivered both my kids. I have endometriosis and PCOS and before I had kids, she was the first dr. that figured out what was wrong since I have very atypical symptoms. She used to work dowtown (Northwestern) but moved to the burbs due to her own family, etc. I don't think I would have been able to have kids if it wasn't for her.
Pediatrician: Hinsdale Pediatrics (a bit of a hike to Hinsdale but worth it in my opinion). We see Dr. Lisa Franco but I also love Dr. Campbel and his wife, Kathy Pechak-Campbell. There are about 7 drs in the practice. They have late hours and Saturday sick hours as well.

I second the Dr Patel recommendation. She used to be in the same practice as my OB (in the city)....I didn't realize she had moved out to the suburbs. As PP mentioned she is super intelligent, incredibly kind, and was always willing to take a phone call.
Check out West Suburban Women's Health in Willowbrook. I see the midwives, but the doctors are fabulous too. As for a pediatrician, we go to Dr. Mary Lewis Pediatrics in Countryside. There are 3 female doctors - all wonderful!

Its good to know! I haven't called any pediatricians yet because the OB is a bit more pending! (See ticker.)
