Cloth Diapering

For those who send cloth to daycare

How many do you send per day? My LO isn't consistent on how many diapers she goes through. Is the theory of 1 per hour ok? She will be there 12 hours. :( I don't change every hour, but usually no more than 2.5 hours.

Also- I am sending a hanging wetbag each day for dirties. Reasonable?

Re: For those who send cloth to daycare

  • I send 5 diapers everyday.  She usually goes through four of them.  My daughter is there from 7-4, but on a pretty consistent schedule.-

  • I send 8 and she always has a ton of spares.

  • I send 4 and usually get one clean one back. DS is at daycare from 715 until 430 and poops only once per day. 12 seems excessive to me.

  • They change him on a schedule of every 2 hours. So he usually uses 4, but maybe 5 if he has a BM. I send 6, plus I keep 2 sposies in there just in case. They've only had to use a sposie once.

  • My daycare provider also keeps a small pack of disposables just in case LO is feel super poopy one day.
  • I try to make sure she has at least 6 there for an 8 hour day. She usually goes through 3 - 4 now. I also send a hanging wetbag that fits about 10 diapers if it's stuffed to the gills.

I think DCP has only ever run out of diapers once, and then she just put her in a sposie. It was NBD.

  • Four to 5 everyday and then the wet bag stays there and gets brought home every other day. Though my daycare lady is really nice about washing the cloth diapers for me which is great.

  • My DS is in daycare from 8-5. They change him every 2 hours, unless he poops, in which case they change him right away. I usually send him in one cloth diaper, and provide 6 extra clean ones for the day. I have two hanging wetbags, so each day I send a clean wetbag.

He usually uses them all or has one clean one to bring home.

I keep some disposables there just in case he runs out, or in case he needs diaper rash cream. He rarely has to use them. In fact, he's outgrown two sizes of disposables that I'd sent in before ever getting to use them.

I am so jealous!  I usually send 4 diapers per day and there is usually still 1 left when I pick him up.  She keeps a pack of sposies (that I provided) for when they go out or just in case.

Really?  That's against regulations in a lot of states.

We send 10, because we're over-achievers.  She's only come close to going through all of them once, because she had a day when she kept dumping water on her self.

  • When he was an infant we sent around 6-7 per day.  Now we send 5 (well usually only 4 because there is a leftover from the day before)

My daycare (which is a center) totally plops poop for me most of the time

  • We send 6 and always get 1 or 2 back. I also send a hanging wet bag so it's easier for them to put them in the bag. They've also found a way to roll them up a bit like a disposable when it's used, so I don't have to put my hands in dirty diapers when pulling them out of the bag.
