Homestudy $??

DH and I are about to start searching for an agency, but we would like to have the money for the homestudy already set aside before we start.

So, how much did your homestudy cost? I know it's a personal question; I'd love for you to pm me if you're uncomfortable sharing on the board. :)

TIA!

Re: Homestudy $??

  • $1700 I think.

Any agency you're interested in should be transparent enough to have all their fees available to you upfront. I'd just ask for them so you know what you're dealing with.

  • Our first was $300 for DA. The second was $1200 for IA.

  • Ours will probably be about $1000.
  • I am in GA and we are having an open domestic adoption. Our homestudy fees are $1,500.00 total. I think it depends on the agency, state, and what type of adoption you are wanting. I know that in our state, if you adopt out of DFACS, you don't have to pay any fees. GL!!!!

  • Ours is $1700 but it is broken down into installments. $500 with the initial paperwork, $500 at the first homestudy meeting, $700 at the end of the process but before the final report is turned in. While we have the whole amount, it is nice to have the installment system in place. You may want to ask the agencies you are looking at what their payment schedule is - they were all very different, but all have some sort of a schedule so you don't pay a huge lump sum all at the same time.
