Hi ladies! I just had my 26 week Dr appointment yesterday and my little man is measuring on the big side. I've been experiencing this intense pain right where my pubic bone is and basically I feel like it's going to snap, pop, rip or tear. My Dr. told me it was probably because he is on the large side and that I very well could feel some sort of popping or tearing down there. Yikes! That sounds so painful! I didn't experience this with my 1st child and was wondering if anyone has experienced this. Any suggestions on how to minimize this pain? My doctor didn't really have any suggestions for this discomfort.
Re: Pubic Bone pain question
Ughhh!!! It sucks! This is my 3rd child and I never had this pain with the other 2. Sadly to say, if it's anything like me, it will just get worse from here. I've found that alternating between hot and cold treatments helps. In my case, Icing it was the best and trying to keep your legs shut as much as possible seems to help although it's not always realistic. Sleeping with a pillow between your knees at night also seems to help a bit.
I'm at the point now where I can hardly turn over in bed at night due to the pain and I need assistance getting up out of bed or off the couch, but they say it will all go away once the baby is born.
Get a brace and wear it every time you're going to be walking around or standing a lot. I've had this since 20-something weeks. My OB told me it's the pubic bone separating to prepare for birth. He didn't tell me it was a disorder!
Other remedies - take a Tylenol if you really can't stand it anymore, sleep with a pillow between your thighs, try to sit down often but not on anything too low to get up from comfortably.

I have symphysis pubis dysfunction (with the pain you're describing). With DS, it started around 34 weeks. With this one, it started at 20 w
I've been in physical therapy, but I've found a maternity support belt is the thing that makes it feel the best. Doesn't help having a 30lb toddler that wants to be carried a lot!
I had to stop most exercising (walking, aerobics, etc) but can still ride the recumbent bike. I take it easy when getting in/out of the car, and putting on pants. Thankfully, last time around the pain went away after birth.
