Pedi said LO has eczema, no one if my family has it so I need to read up on it. I was wondering if any LOs here with eczema, what do you use for soap and moisturizer? Pedi said to actually use Dove and any lotion that is fragrance free. TIA
We use Aveeno wash and Aveeno eczema therapy lotion. It has worked for the longest time, but in the past two weeks, it's gotten worse. So much so that we took her back to her pedi where the prescribed a cream (acid mantle) that we put on twice a day. We just started so I can't say if it's working yet, but she does seem less red.
At this point, just keep her skin hydrated as much as possible. After a bath, pat dry, don't wipe.
Dove actually causes my eczema, I am quite allergic to it. I don't use soap every time I shower or bathe, I just rinse with water. Waleda makes a wonderful baby soap with calendula in it, which helps soothe skin. The cetaphil bar is also really nice.
I can't help you with lotions though, I get rashes from putting anything lotion-y or oily on my skin.
We use Aveeno essential moisture body wash. We have a prescription for hydrocortizone that we use and I'm currently trying to decrease how often.
We use Eucerin lotion (the calming cream) morning and night from head to toe (minus face) And put Aquaphor on his face. Kid has the most sensitive, dry skin ever. Gets that from me
A friend recommended Mustela Stelatopia to me and it seems to be working well. Much better than the Aveeno products. However, I EBF and omitted dairy for about two months and that seemed to help things a TON. It sucked, but it was worth it!
I always say this, but really I cannot emphasize this enough, use California baby cream with Callendula in it. THIS STUFF IS AMAZING.
Aveeno worsened the problems for us. I swear by this stuff. SWEAR by it!
Lurker here. This exactly! We tried a million different types of creams... California baby is expensive but worth every penny. It's the only thing that's gotten LO's eczema under control!
