Tips for induction!

So doctor decided to induce and we thought it was going to be today, but they are full.  So I am scheduled for tomorrow at 7am.  Any tips or advice for FTM going in for induction?

  • I was induced at 8 pm on Sunday, October 16 and didn't have DS until 2 am October 18 so bring things to read or do.  You can only watch so much TV.  We brought scratch off lottery tix and magazines.

Eat a great big meal before going to the hospital.  It may be days before you get to eat again.  Akso, have DH bring snacks for himself bc he`won't want to leave your side, but probably won't be offered any food from the hospital.

Let your family know that it may take awhile-my parents sat in the waiting room for 19 hrs waiting for DS to arrive!

Relax.  It was a great experience for me.  Try to enjoy the process if you can.

  • Bring hard candies and music. Don't be afraid to speak up if you have concerns or needs. Good luck and congrats. :)

This is really great advice.  I was induced at 8 am Friday and didn't deliver until Sunday at 11am.  It was a long couple days!

Be very nice to the nurses - it really helped!
