What's your age & do you have a lot of gray hair?

34 & I have enough that just now, as I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I contemplated whether I should start dying my whole head, rather than just getting highlights. : (

Re: What's your age & do you have a lot of gray hair?

  • 27 and my whole head is gray--has been since 16. I had a decent amount starting around 7. I obviously dye my hair, because I feel like 27 is far too young to embrace the gray.

  • I'm 39 and have quite a bit of gray hair, mostly near my temples. I started getting gray hair when I was in my early 20s. My dad was totallly gray in his 20s, so I'm doing pretty well, IMO. :)

  • I turned 43 last month and I have some grey. Lots more than I did 7 years ago, but you have to be really close to notice it.

  • I just turned 28. I don't have gray hair, I have white hair that glaringly stands out against my very dark hair. I've been coloring my hair for over five years, but I think I found my first when I was 19 or 20.
  • 31 - Yes, I have quite a bit. Its been noticeable enough that I've had to dye it for the past 2 years. I started finding a random one here or there in high school.

  • 32. I found my first gray hair on my 29th birthday and it's gotten progressively worse. It isn't so noticeable that I color it yet, but if you pick up a chunk of my  hair you are likely to find at least a few gray hairs. When it's wet you can really see them, but I don't regularly go out with wet hair. :)

  • 33 and I have a ton of white hair. Lots of large streaks and plenty of others scattered throughout. I started going gray in high school.

  • 37 and none.  My mom is 61 and has no gray hair.  My grandma didn't get any until she was maybe in her 70s and she's not even half gray now at 86.  But, I have plenty of other "bad" genes to contend with. ;-)

  • This is the one and only area that I'm aging gracefully.  I'll be 41 in a couple weeks and don't have any yet (and I ask every single time I get my hair cut/highlighted to make sure I'm just not seeing them).  My dad just turned 67 and only has a little around his temples, and has light blond hair anyway, so it's not that noticeable.  Hopefully I have his hair genes - I think my mom started dying her hair to hide grays in her 40s.
  • I'm 34 and have seen a few gray. Not too many though. I color my hair just because I like different looks.

my mom didn't really go gray until she was after 50.

  • I'm 31 and so far I have not seen any. I'm actually in the process of growing out my natural color so I'm sure I would have noticed them by now. I have about 3 inches of outgrowth. My Maternal Grandfather had the most amazing thick head of Salt and pepper hair, my Maternal Grandmother had beautiful snow white hair and one of my Aunts has silver hair. If my hair turns out like any of theirs as I age I'll be super happy!

  • I'm 40 and I have them scattered -- it just started about 2 years ago and it's pretty slow. I got a rinse once and wasn't impressed by the time I spent in a salon or the results. I have curly hair and I am thinking a salt and pepper look is the way to go. I don't have the patience for hair dye.

  • I'm 42.  I have several greys at my between my ear and temple right at the hairline.  But that is it according to my hairdresser.  Not sure how to deal with them, frankly.

  • 30 and have been noticing more strands lately. It's only a few strands, but since my hair is dark brown it's fairly noticeable. Guess it's time to start coloring my hair (I love my natural color and have never changed it)!

I have dark brown hair and I almost always keep it that way. I like my natural color. I change it up when my hairdresser wants me to try something new. I can't afford to get it colored right now, so I'm doing it myself and feel safest with my natural color.

  • 36 and I have quite a few scattered in my hair.  It seems that all of the hair that I lost when DS was born, has come back gray!  I have colored my hair for years, so it goes away every six weeks!

My Grandmother went gray in her early 20's and my Aunt (her daughter) went gray as well.  It is no big deal to me.  MH likes to give me a hard time about it.

  • I am 36 and have been coloring my hair since 19. I started noticing them in high school. Both of my parents were premature gray and my siblings are too.

  • 40 and none. I've got really light blonde hair though..I ask my hairdresser if she sees any every time I go. I have no clue what a color gray I'm going to be..

  • I have been dying my hair for so long (for fun) that I'm not sure what my natural color even is anymore!  I suspect I have a lot of grey, though based on the new growth I see...and the fact that my mom started going grey very young.  I'll be 35 in a couple of weeks.

  • I'm 36 and don't have any grey that I've been able to find. My Mom didn't start greying until her 50's, so I'm hoping to be that lucky. That said, I still obsessively check my temples since that is where my Mom greyed first, but haven't found anything yet :)

  • how old am I???

32 and scattered. I notice more at the crown than elsewhere.  it's enough that I notice it when in the bathroom light... not so much elsewhere.  enough that I'm starting to think of doing more than highlights. others don't seem to notice it. my hairdresser did have looking through my crown.  it's not bad yet. my mom and granny did not grey until later.  I got a lot of crap genes from my dad. hope I don't lose my hair. lol.

  • 34 and I'm still able to pluck out the grays.  I only find one or two every couple of months right now.
    .
  • I am 27 and I have a lot of gray hair up front. I dye it red, constantly, to cover it up. It's been slowly turning more gray since I was 20. My grandma started getting gray hair at 18 so I suppose it's genetic.

  • 36 and completely gray.  Apparently ghm is my long lost sister.  I've had to dye my entire head since high school from it.  In 7th grade, the jerky guy who sat behind me used to pluck them one by one and it hurt!  I'm feeling especially bitter about it lately.

  • 38 and I've had a few strands of gray at my temples for the past 2 or 3 years -- but I just found a strand of gray somewhere else.  Indifferent
  • I'm really afraid of jinxing myself....so if I come back  and start b!tching in a few months, it is due to this post.

I'll be 32 in a month and so far, nothing.

I regularly highlight or do all-over color, so I always check as it is growing out.  My mom has colored her hair as long as I can remember (due to gray)...so at least since her early 30s...but my dad is still his natural dirty blond color and he's 57.  His dad died at about 76 yrs old, and had a light brown color at that age....so I'm pulling for their genes.

My H has some silver-ish sprinklings....I think it looks great on him & in his black hair.  His dad has a full head of about 3-4 different shades of gray. H has already said he will not be doing anything to cover the gray...and I'm fine with that.

  • 31 and I have quite a bit, especially in front. I started getting it in my early 20s :-(. I usually just color my whole head, I had highlights during the summer and it did nothing to hide the gray.

  • 38 and yes! I've been dying it for several years.

  • 29.  I have none.  My mom started graying probably in her 30s and my dad is only recently really getting gray.
  • only 33 years but I have seen a few (I pull them out : ) it seems like more in the last 3-4 months, gah!!

  • I am 31. I found my first gray or should I say white hair when I was 29. I can count on both hands the number I have found since, but I don't typically go digging for them. My hair is highlighted and my hair dresser usually only sees a few underneath when she does my hair.

  • When I got home from the hospital after delivering my son, I found 3 gray hairs on my head.  NEVER noticed them before but there they were.  I was 39.  I have a few but they're under the top hair.
  • I am 31. I found one gray hair last year, and haven't seen any since. Lets hope it stays that way. Smile

  • 29 and yes.  i get wiry white/grey hairs right down the part in my hair.  i've been dyeing for years, though, so they're only noticeable when i'm due for color.  they got much worse after pregnancy.

  • 34 and no gray. Unfortunately though, my hair is thinning horribly; to the point where I'm afraid I'm going to have bald spots on top soon! I'd happily take gray hair over thinning hair at this point.
  • almost 41 (in December) and I noticed just in the last year that I am getting more and more.  I started coloring it last fall so about a year ago.  I don't have enough all over that it totally bothers me, most of the gray is right in the front near my face which is the only reason I color it.  I feel like once it more all over, I will let it go - it just looks funny to me now.  One of my sisters has had gray hair since she was in her early 20's.

  • 38 and not too much yet. I notice it the most if my hair is in a ponytail and then I see some random strands around the temple area. I have red hair (strawberry blonde) so sometimes I'm not sure if it just a super blonde piece or if it is actually white/gray. Sometimes it is obvious and others it isn't.
  • 39 and only a few strands here and there that I pluck if I see.

My dad's side turned gray early (20's) and my aunt would tease me that she would buy me a brown hair rinse for my 30th birthday. I told her I wouldn't need it because I had my mom's genes (she didn't turn gray until after 50). I was right!
