How do you even begin to pick a name for your LO? I just started the search last night since we know we are having a boy. I haven't really found any names I like. Where did you ladies start with your search? I hesitate to go to the Baby Names board. Things get pretty crazy over there sometimes!
TIA!
Re: If you know what you are having, how did you do it?
I went thru a baby book and found Zachary.. I feel in love with it. I asked my hubby and he was like it's ok.. the more and more I used the name.. Jay warmed up to it and now loves it.

We did the same! We knew we wanted an Irish name, and I was partial to Irish Saint names so we started our search there and ended up falling in love with a girl name we found.

My husband's name is Michael and Michael is the leader of Archangels, he is the head of the army, his second in command and top warrior is Gabriel we have a Michael we need a Gabriel, his name means this:
Gabriel is known as the "messenger" Angel and is one of the four Archangels named in Hebrew tradition and is considered one of the two highest-ranking Angels in Judeo-Christian and Islamic religious lore. Apart from Michael, he is the only Angel mentioned by name in the Old Testament. He is a powerful and strong Archangel, and those who call upon him will find themselves pushed into action that leads to beneficial results.
Gabriel can bring messages to you just as he did to Elizabeth and Mary of the impending births of their sons, John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth. If you are considering starting a family, Gabriel helps hopeful parents with conception or through the process of adopting a child.
It seemed to fit so many things that we needed and wanted after both a m/c and the loss of a daughter, we need a "fighter" baby one who is strong and true and Gabriel fit perfectly
His full name mean Hero of God, who is like God. Fell in love with it!
I've been jotting down names I like for a couple years, so I continued doing that to have a starting point of names to consider. Then, I looked at baby name books and websites for more idea and info. I did post to the Baby Names board a couple times to get their reactions.
I really like the website babynamesworld.com. It has opinions from people with each name, so you can see if they like their name or if they got teased a lot, etc.
With all that said, I still haven't officially picked a name... but I have a definite front-runner, although it's not one I "discovered" by doing all this research.
Wellll I knew the middle name I wanted because it is after my grandmother who passed away a week before I got my BFP and then I just started randomly thinking of names and trying to find one that sounded good with it and I landed on the name Caitlyn which I just fell in love with and then later when I looked it up on babynames.com I liked the meaning and I liked that it's origin was Irish as both my FI and I are primarily Irish and he has an Irish last name so it was just the perfect name.
THEN around 20 weeks when we were going to find out the gender and people started asking if we had a name picked out and all that we found out that his 5 year old cousin had the exact same name (first, middle, and last) and for a number of reasons I decided to find a new name. So we started looking at names on babynames.com and making a list of one's we liked and finally came up with about ten that we liked and then just worked on narrowing it down to about three names and decided we would wait until after the a/s to choose the final name. After finding out it was a girl and seeing her my FI just really liked the name Taylor (one of our top three) so that is the name we went with. I like it but I don't love it the way I did Caitlyn but everyone else really likes it and I know people named Taylor and they like their name so hopefully she will like it and that is all that matters.
