Hi All-
New to the boards. Looking for a new OB/GYN in Albany. Prefer to have someone who delivers are Albany Med/St. Peters.
There seem to be a lot of group practices. Upstate OB/GYN, Albany Med. Thoughts on this? I've never worked with a group practice and this is my first pregnancy. pros? cons? Am I being too picky to want to work with one doctor?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Re: OB/GYN In Albany
Ditto pp.. there is a post about 10 down.
I went to Albany Med Women's Wellness when they were in Latham, now they are by AMC. At first I was a little unnerved by how many Drs there are, I think I saw about 4 diff doctors (men and women). But they all have a lot of experience - and I had a horrible delivery with a previous OB (bad tearing, forceps/vacuum delivery) - and every single Dr at the AMC Women's Wellness center showed genuine concern. They were very thorough in discussing my issues over and over again, and were accepting in whatever decision I went with (regular delivery vs. scheduled c-section). I haven't been back since my pp checkup or since they moved, since I am done having kids and my regular dr does the ob stuff now.
I think the pros would be that they are all very qualified, but some people only want to see one Dr through their pregnancy and are counting on that Dr to deliver.
Another factor that was important to me is that they did services in office - you would want to check with whomever you go with - but they did bloodwork and u/s on site. If anything happened, I didn't want to have to drive from my ob's office to a facilit or hospital that had an u/s machine to diagnose an issue.
