I know everyone always asks, "should I POAS?" but I'm just curious what the general consensus is around here. Do you test every day after your iui? Do you wait for 12dpiui? Do you not test and wait for your beta? Tell me what you typically do! I'm curious. I'm trying to hold out for my beta on Friday, I've never done it I'm usually testing by 9dpiui...I'm all out of tests and I refuse to buy anymore because I managed to burn through the last 50 pretty quickly, lol.

Re: The great POAS debate...
I'm cheap I go with the beta.
But for me it's more than that. Since I've had two m/c a BFP doesn't always mean you're gonna have a baby. For me the second beta is the really important one. I mean if you're pregnant it'll still be there a few days later lol. So I wait for the beta, it's more accurate anyways.
Oct 2011~Second round clomid 50 mg; BFN
Nov 2011~Third round clomid 50 mg: BFP
Dec 11- Beta #1 91;Dec 13- Beta #2 186.2
Dec 27- third miscarriage
May 25th- Beta #1 369;May 27th- Beta #2 798
Baby girl born Jan 23, 9lbs 3oz, 21 1/2" long
May 27th-Beta #1 80; May 29th- Beta #2 304; May 31st- Beta #3 860
My RE doesn't do betas for IUIs unless you get a + HPT so I would usually test at 12dpiui and then once more at 14dpiui.
Me: 32 - Stage II Endo / DH: 36 - Low count and morphology (1%)
IUIs 1-3 BFN, lap Dec. 2010, IUIs 4-6 BFN
IVF w/ICSI #1 - ER 2/8: 24R 19M 9F ET 2/13 2-5 day blasts (no frosties) = BFP - b/g twins!
E & C Born 10/19/2012
On a medicated cycle I wait for the beta. On a break cycle I wait until AF is at least 7 days late before I buy a test.
As much as I want that surprise of a BFP on a test at home, I am so sick and tired of getting negatives and basically peeing on money, lol.

TTC since 2010
lots of IUIs and 1 IVF all BFNs
FET currently on hold
I wish I had the patience to wait but I don't. I test like crazy! I tested at 6 dpo to make sure my trigger was gone and then I started testing today @ 9 dpo. I'll test until Friday when I have my RE consult.
I always test because my RE usually only does a beta if I get a +HPT.
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure

I very rarely had this dilemma because AF always arrived right on schedule at 10 DPO. Of the 4 cycles in my entire life that she didn't, I was pregnant (1st two chemical pg, 3rd a progesterone-related delay, and 4th was this pregnancy). I don't know how many dpo your beta is, but would suggest holding out until the day before. As common as early BFP's are, I am a living proof that you can have a BFN at 12dpo and still be pregnant. So why upset yourself unnecesarily if you don't have to. On the flipside, I hated the idea of sitting around at work, waiting for the beta results phone call (and they hardly ever called before 3 pm) without any clue what to expect. Hence the day before seems like a good way to go.
Good luck!! FX for you!
