Ergo vs. Infantinio Balance

Hi ladies! I'm stopping over to ask this question here because I figure you would know best. I bought an Ergo and an Infantino Balance carrier and am trying to decide which one to keep. I'm just curious if the Ergo is really worth the difference in cost. If you were to buy one of these, which one would you recommend and why? Thank you!!

Re: Ergo vs. Infantinio Balance

  • I would probably choose the Ergo over any Infantino carrier, if the cost is not a big deal.  With the Ergo, you are getting a carrier that really will last you at least 2 years, and most likely will hold up for more kiddos, if that is important to you.  Infantino carriers are not made nearly as well, and they were the company involved with the bag sling recall a couple years ago.  There business practices are quite frowned upon in the babywearing community.  As for the specific Infantino carrier you have, I can't say.  I'd still choose the Ergo.

(disclaimer:  I do not have an Ergo.  I have a Boba, with is very similar, just designed for bigger/older babies.  I love my Boba, and use it exclusively now.)

  • I had a problem with an Infantino carrier and I had excellent customer service.  When they replaced the carrier they also sent LO 3 new toys.

  • I really think this is a person-to-person preference. You'll have to just decide based on what fits you and your little one best.

  • I have had both and the ERGO is by FAR the better carrier. It has a better waist strap, overall the straps are more flexible (there's no way I'd ever be able to get DS on my back in the infantino) and the straps on the ERGO are longer and more adjustable. I'm a bigger girl, so I wouldn't have been able to continue using the infantino as DS grew because I wouldn't be able to get the straps secured.

Also, the ERGO is more ergonomically balanced and distributes the weight better, which is really essential if you plan on babywearing for any length of time. Otherwise you're going to have tons of back and shoulder pain.

  • I think it depends on how much you plan on wearing LO. Are you going to be wearing LO everyday, or once in a blue moon? Are you using it to grocery shop once a week where you have it on for 20 minutes, or do you want something you can walk around for hours in comfortably?

If I wasnt planning on wearing LO a lot, I'd go for a cheaper carrier. If you plan on  babywearing long term and wear LO frequently, splurge and get the better one.

  • Thank you for all the advice!! After trying out both carriers for extended periods of time around the house, I decided to go with the Ergo. LO feels more comfortable in it and she doesn't get crunched down in the Ergo, even without the insert. I'm still getting used to carrying LO around the house, but it has definitely made life easier!!

I really appreciate you all taking time to help me!! Thank you!!
